i agree with SR, above, however its not always so easy to prepare that good ol' home cookin'.

fwiw, the burgers at white spot are petty good. and if they don't fill you up you can have all the fries you can eat! so healthy.
i like the cactus club burger. i don't drink pop so its a little more $ for me than the op, due to the wine or beer.
earl's burgers are good too, but i find it depends on the location (broadway & fir seems to be best).
rogue on broadway has a good burger too (be warned: served "pink". i'm ok with that, but told them that if i got sick to my pants, i'd be doing it in their bathroom, not mine).
i wouldn't eat at wendy's mcd's etc. just not my thing.
as for the op's outrage, the price of your meal is on the menu, typically found outside the establishment. you can choose not to even enter the restaurant. its not like your burger comes, and then your HOT waitress says its extra for bacon, extra for fries, extra for ketchup... a scenario perhaps more familiar to many of the folks here.
