Asian Fever

Wow! Who would believe that such a conservative country would even manage to survive, let alone do relatively well (up until now at least).

I predict that the Olympics is going to have a very large negative effect on Japan, considering the low vaccination rate.

And I heard on the CBC news, depite Japan declaring a state of emergency, they have very few actual restrictions in place. For example, they are still packing people into their trains and subway cars like sardines into a tin can. This is not going to end well for the Japanese people unless they get their head out of their ass and for example, find a way to train people to give the vaccinations, not just doctors and nurses.

and look at reality, they have over 3 times Canada's population

they've in the last month, month, had on average a couple of thousand cases country wide, low of just under 1000 to a high of around 3000

that's like what Canada was having a month ago, sorta, 14-1500, last month, we've still got 4-500 daily now

not going to end well? haha

from what reality?

that they really aren't doing that bad at all, specially when you consider their death rate is basically nothing, 7 July 12th

and for the last month it's been nose diving

and that's with no vaccines

yeah, they're reeeeallly in trouble

who's going to be left to keep up the porn? the anime?

christ

maybe we can send them Trudeau for the next 50 years to save them

facts, who fucking needs facts anymore, pathetic

Not just the low vaccination rate, but also high median age plus cultural resistance to vaccines. And they rely heavily on public transport, which can be very crowded.

It is true the number of cases in Japan are still relatively low but exponential curves are something else. Once the train gets moving, it's hard to stop. Delta is especially infectious and it's estimated 1 person can infect 6-8 people. (2020 covid was around 2-3)

I still remember the # of deaths in Italy on March 1 2020: 5.

2 weeks later: 368.

End of May 26,000+.

Science is nice, but not always correct. Waiting the extra time to see the trial of vaccine is/was smart.
Not knowing much about genetic factors in the Japanese that could affect them, I think they did it right. Not jumping to any solution so quickly. What if there was a genetic factor that affected the Japanese and had tragic results once the vaccine was dispersed.
