TV Shows that would not be allowed today

Still lost in the '60s
The Honeymooners could not be broadcast today, with Jackie Gleason threatening to punch his wife "to the moon, Alice."

Mike Wallace's interviews would look nauseating with him chain smoking cigarettes.

Great memories as a kid. My mom gasped when Ralph threatened to send Alice to the moon with a clenched fist!

I had to look it up but the guy who was the chain smoker on CBS News was Edward R Murrow. Maybe Mike Wallace smoked too but Murrow was the guy all the 60 Minutes journalists looked up to from his WW II broadcasts.

Darren Stevens used to come home from work and light up a smoke and pour a big tumbler of Scotch.
Him and Larry Tate were always drinking and smoking even right in their offices.

Reality TV is dirt cheap to produce. My friend's son was on a reality series for a season. He got hardly any money but was told he'd get "valuable exposure".

No big modelling contracts yet though...he's back at the jobsite.

I think shows are much more risqué today and push the edge than in the past. Mad Men, South Park, Game of Thrones (a show about blood, tits, and dragons for gods sake!), just a few.

All in the Family was not played without severe reservation. Maybe it says something that it WAS so popular... Married with Children was no worse than Simpson’s or South Park.

And what’s so PC about the violence on TV?

Interesting point. back in the days of All in the family it was inappropriate to be risgue' on network TV.
It was okay to be racist though. Go figure, it's the opposite today!

Sex and violence is now a rated warning like PG or PG14, 18A and rated R and so. This allows those shows
to be put in the public eye be it on TV, the movie theater, DVD and or Blueray or whatever.
Open racism is not even rated and therefore non existant in shows today like it was back then.

Again, interesting how we have made PROGRESS?, when we can still view violence against women
and children on the national news and generally speaking just about everywhere.

The one show that sickens me to this day is the Hurt Locker where they showed that young boy who was
selling DVD's and they then found him in a place with his guts sewn up and his body full of explosives
to be used in another IED attack. Unbelievable............

How many young kids were able to watch that type of violence. I can't imagine what might have
been going through their young minds when they saw that.
Makes me wanna :puke: thinking about it.

Thank god All in the Family, Married with Children and such were known as TV sitcom comedy! :thumb:
