Anybody vote on this? I voted for Bure. He may have been an asshole at the end but he's the only player to ever play here who could lift fans out of their seats every shift. I remember fucking around or channel hopping during games but being glued to the screen when he got on the ice. If he would have ended up playing with Gretzky, when they were trying to sign him before he went to the Rangers, Bure would have broken Gretzky's record for goals in a season and Gretzky would have played another five years. No question. He's also the only Canuck player to score 60 goals (twice) and lead the NHL in any offensive category. How many Canuck players have had teams devising strategies to specifically stop them and not their line? None.

For me, second place would be a tie between Gradin and Linden. Smyl wasn't much without Gradin.

If you really wanted to include all Canucks of all-time, I'd have to say Phil Maloney or Orland Kurtenbach.

Bure

I'd have to agree with The Lizard King ... Bure was fun to watch and he was the final piece to the Canuck's puzzle in the 90's which took them to the cup final in 94. If Bure wasn't such a dickhead, he would easily win this contest.

It would be a toss up between Smyle and Linden for the guy with the biggest heart. Both these guys could have been major scoring machines if they would have remembered to shake the lead out of their gloves before every game! Yes, they both scored many goals in their careers, but they also missed many opportunities at prime times. Bure was more of a finisher.

i think that if the canucks can keep the line of naslund, bertuzzi, and morrison together for several years they will be deadly

Here
Greatest Canuck?

Without question, Barry Pederson. Canucks got rid of some dead wood (Cam something) and a draft pick (Glen something) to get a leader who took them to many successes with his power forward skills, 50 goals and, in spite of knee injury, is the only Canuck in the Hall of Fame as a modern player. :)

Isn't that what happened? ;)

If not Barry, a close second is Sheldon Kannegiesser though Moe Lemay (also a song by Roxy Music) deserves some consideration. :)

In your imagination...
The greatest Canuck?

Short career: Pavel Bure.

Went to see his first game as a Canuck and got tickets at the last minute. Second to last row dead center and when he made his rushes up the ice we all stood up to watch. Yup, from the last rows! He was that exciting!

Long Career: Trevor or Stan for me. When I think of the Canucks I always think of these two players, they seem so tied to the Canucks image.

Well LG gotta beg to differ with you on this one good buddy.

Remember King Richard Broduer?, hands down the best goal tender
ever to be on the nucks roster. IMO.............You never did see King
Richard on the internet with a beach ball in the net
behind him did Ya ??!! :D
And I don't wanna hear we didn't have internet then. :D

Now for all time greatest nuck. absolutely positively

HARRRRR---------OLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Now did the fans ever chant like that for any other nuck, I think not.

Second.......THE HOUSE.........GREG ADAMS!!

Third.........Jeff Courtnall

Fourth and one of my personal favs..........Cliff Ronning.

...............QM'r

P.S. Personally speaking Bure was a great player in his early times with
the nucks but was just a flash in the pan. How can you compare him
with the likes of TRUE HEART players like the above mentioned.
NO WAY MAN !!

Cliff Ronning was definitely the most under-rated.
Never seen anyone skate as good as him either...
guy was a blast to watch

The old heroes.......for the love of the game!

Quite true one of the most underrated of all.
The true grit grinders of hockey in my books are the ones
most people remember just because of there love for the game.

Maybe they are not the highest goal scorers or the ones who get
the most assists but they sure show there talents in other ways.

Harold Snepts was a classic example of this. Not a very good skater
very few goals and assists but by god did the fans love him.

may have been a better goalie, but how many Game 7's did he take the Canucks to???

sure, McLean had a pretty good team in front of him ... Linden still an impact player, Bure, Courtnall Bros., etc ... made for some exciting hockey.

even some of the players from that year stated on tape that the only reason they stayed in the series was because McLean won games for them!

rest my case.

cept when he passed the puck in front of our net to Bossy ( i think it was Bossy ) with less then 10 secs left in the first overtime against the islanders in first game of the 82' finals
Ooooooooh damn you had to bring that one up! :D

Ya that hurt us bad and had to be the low light in his career no doubt.
Saw them play that snippet on the news the other night and he didn't
see Bossy coming when he tried to get it to his winger or Bossy's speed
just caused him to underestimate where he was passing too, quite the
nasty interseption that was.

yeah, but you have to wonder when its more exciting to discuss your fav team than to watch them play!

i'm starting to think the dork that came up with the Lions offensive scheme is now coaching the Canucks ...

Phil Esposito said it best on the lack of scoring in hockey: no matter how they fuck with the game the net hasn't moved an inch, just get it in there!

I think the reason there's no scoring in hockey is because there's no cheerleaders!

:D

Good responses, but my choice would be Trevor Linden (and I'm not even a Canucklehead). Out of the seven choices given for this contest, I think he embodies what is needed in a captain/leader/Canuck the most. He made an impact as soon as he started his career, leading by example and showing that Vancouver had what it took to be a champion. In my opinion, he is a prototypical hockey player, and Vancouver made a wise choice drafting him second overall behind Modano.

And King Richard should have been on the 'list of seven' instead of Snepsts.

Harold Snepts is the greatest Canuck ever. Hes everything a hockey player should aspire to. Was he the greatest skilled player? Nope not even close, but his unselfish determination to win was unmatched.

Actually it was Greg "Gus" Adams. Jim Sandlak was "The House". Harold? Saw him in one of the top 5 fights ever with Dave Schultz in his "prime". Great guy but greatest Canuck? That would be like Tie Domi being the greatest Leaf of all time.
