I find myself having to reset my IP address at least once per day. And other times I've to shut off both my PC and my modem and reboot everything.

Am I the only one having this problem?

Vancouver - sort of
Haven't had to reset my IP but fairly often am having to power down my modem and router. A pain in the neck but only takes a couple minutes and I'm back in business.

Ditto here. (Telus only said the FUTURE was friendly -- didn't say anything about today!)

I sometimes have problems downloading files with ADSL. It will download the majority of the file(anywhere from 50 to 99%) and then for no reason It will lose the connection. Talk about frustrating!

I was about to say that it could be a faulty modem, but a few of you seem to be having the same problem. Then again, it could be a bad cluster of modems.

I'm with Telass too and similar problems occur on occasion, although not very often.

Downloads.... I ALWAYS die on the downloads... I'm gonna call em and bitch for a refund or some sort of compensation. I got the high speed deal because I wanted the bandwidth... I WANT TO USE WHAT I'M PAYING FOR!

ADSL Problem

I'd call it in to their tech support.

Most likely the ADSL modem is hooped or your actual circuit has become degraded. Fix would be them altering your ADSL setting to make it more stable or if that doesn't fix the issue they will have to replace the modem, check the line for any physical problems and possibly rerun the jumpers in the central office.

The reason that resetting the ADSL modem fixes the issue is because it causes it to resync with the equipment on the other end; untill it becomes degraded again and the process needs to be repeated.

I'm using a 3Comm modem with Telus Enhanced ADSL. I'm downloading almost 24/7/356 from Usenet and KDX servers and haven't reset my modem in months. I've been using the 3Comm for 5 years and for some reason it runs much cooler with Enhanced ADSL.

Telus can have two issues one it some times has problems with SMC routers and the other they use IP6 which can cause problem some times. try reinstalling the IP stack

A few days ago my connection was out all day so I finally called Telus' Tech Support line. The guy at the other end tried to convince me that it was a problem with my splitter, so I ended up cutting him off by unplugging the splitter. Tried using my phone line directly into my modem, but still no go, so I plugged the splitter back in. However, after a couple of hours, my ADSL connection came back to life and I've had no outages since then. I'm sure someone quietly fixed something after my call. So even though the tech support guy was about as useless as a second arsehole, I still got results!! :)

I lost my connection at least once per evening with Telus.

Switched to Shaw:

1. Not one lost connection in 12 months of usage
2. Faster Service
3. Saving $10 per month

I also switched to Vonage for my phone service (over the internet) so have kissed Telus good bye. (and saved over $500 in the past 12 months in the process)
