You might want to pay attention to the Kitimat LNG project(s). If that goes through, there will be a voracious Asian (mmmmm voracious Asian...) market for $15 gas, rather than a single NA market of $3.00 gas. I'm a fan of gas development as long as appropriate markets are developed with it. Not a big fan of sending everything South for a loss...
There is a huge oversupply of natural gas that cannot be "shut in" until prices improve. The horizontal drilling / fracking process creates a well that must be immediately put into production and must stay in production until it has been depleted. The only way of diverting the gas from these wells is to store it or to export it. Storage requires a whole set of expensive technologies coupled with an expensive approval process and export requires storage at the export port.

I just can't see natural gas being an investment that returns a profit.

As a consumer $15 a gigajoule natural gas is pretty fricken nasty.....that makes for VERY expensive heating bills during a cold prairie winter.

Kitimat LNG won't be going to China. It will be going mostly to Japan and Korea. Energy intensive countries without their own vast reserves.
I really don't think that they are going to be able to sell China $15 natural gas. Shale deposits with natural gas available by fracking aren't uncommon. China has the advantage of being able to contract for a fully developed technology. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/05/b...-us-supremacy-in-shale-gas-breakingviews.html http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/696d9230-a1ab-11e0-b9f9-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1YuNjwtvg

Looks like market is in for another tumble...Hong Kong is down 550 atm..lots of buying opportunities ahead..who is stocking up on gold, silver and guns?:D i am going long on 4 big banks of china in the coming weeks or months...China wants RMB to become world reserve currency in the next 20 years, will need sound banks to help them.

IMHO the Asian markets are a lagging indicator of North American rather than a predictor, so this is probably more of an aftershock to Friday. We'll see what happens today I guess.

P.S. Happy 1000th post to me :)

At some point Apple shares are going to slit

Did they spit 4 years ago ?
I bought and sold some option on them back in 2005 /2006 when the "Iphone first was introduced out in Europe trad show
the stock had gone up from 85 to 92 or so in a few weeks and bought 1000 call for 95 they were 3.50 or so and i sold apple in about 5 days when it had gone to 98.. I double my money ..

Now I wish i had don that again in the last 4 month . It was a 380 something and now at 450 some out of the money call back in Sept would had a good profit .

I guess the next question is will RIM get back to 60...

And how long can Apple keep going for a one horse wonder.. i phone are falling behind just like RIMs produces .

After Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos buys it. RIM still has a BILLION in cash in their balance sheet. Might be half by the end of 2012 though. Of course, peanuts compared to Apple's almost 80 billion. For me, the probability of hitting 60 again is still higher than the City of Hamilton getting an NHL Franchise in the short term.

$ 500 Billion Company

APPL now doing $ 524.00. Only needs an upswing of about 10 more bucks in share price to become a $ 500 Billion company. Probably tomorrow. Now bigger than Microsoft and Google combined.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I was watching Jon Steward last month and he did a skit on Apple.

Turns out the average chinese worker was making something like 1.00 an hour (ie 168/mo) and they had to put nets a couple of feet from the ground to stop those who we're jumping to their deaths from well actually dying.

So expect the profit margins to change in the not too distant future.

$1 an hr in China is better than $20 an hr in Vancouver... I am surprised half of the working population in Vancouver isn't trying to kill themselves...

Because they know how to make lemonades when handed over a lemon. The real losers in this beautiful city are those ones who keep on bitchin' about living and being here but can't leave. Remember, you only go around this world once. ;)

Apple has $ 100 Billion in CASH in its balance sheet. More cash than the US Treasury. Has the best chance of being the 1st TRILLION Dollar Company in a few years.

Just to clarify, I believe the suicides were at Foxconn, an Apple subcontractor. Apple is only one of several companies they work for, and Foxconn sells computer motherboards under their own name as well.

The suicides happened in 2010, so not sure why this is a story now: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn_suicides

Kudos to Apple for becoming only the 5th company to have a $ 500 Billion valuation a few weeks back. Which means their present valuation is now more than the GDP of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I disagree...the real losers are the ones that get married, have kids they can't afford, overpay for shitty Vancouver real estate, and show up to work depressed and miserable...city is full of people like that...:pound:

funny, we over pay for everything,

to me a loser is some one that can't fiqure it out and find happiness, or do what makes him happy,

i wanted a family and kids, it wasn't an accident that im a father, i did all those dad things soccer practice hockey games, dance recitals
setting up a barbi play house on christmas eve until two in the morning,
and i hope to chase my grandchildren around in the back yard in my old age, its what i want to do, i enjoy it,
even now, my weekends are spent with my family if not my kids my newphews and nieces im still helping out with kids hockey my son is twenty five, my niece every other weekend if they need help im all in.
i believe very strongly in family,

i guess it to some might not make sense that i see escorts, but i also enjoy sex, for whatever reason my wife not so much,
so what go with out for the rest of my life, i tried that it didnt' work i was one unhappy camper.

i see a lady, and i have tried to make it as normal as possible like a date, i wanted an sp as a friend some one to trust some one i respected
my sp spoils me rotten, and well i have no idea why but she says im one of her favorite clients.
not braggin but my point is
your responsible for your own happiness,
i don't get guys that are here paying for sex yet bitch about the girls. or bitch about there wifes or there ex wife, or just bitch in general.
i agree some guys seem so unhappy, and i have been there,
but for fuck sakes fiqure it out, instead of bitching and complaing non stop
