Rogers across the country is down

Many Service Providers use Rogers to communicate with clients. Be patient on both sides if you are unable to contact an SP to setup, confirm or even get into an incall until it is resolved.

This is also affecting Interac, home phone and Internet

Well that kinda, sorta sucks for text/call providers. Just saying all is good for contacting by email through Rogers though. I just saw on Twitter that Interact tweeted it is also affecting
e-transfers and I am assuming ATM services, which also kinda, sorta sucks!!

I’m on Telus now but I remember last time, wasn’t that long ago, I wa still with Rogers and wifi calling and texting still worked. Pretty much every cell provider has it and only takes a minute to set up.

Rogers being down has been a jab at my off-site work. I'm in construction, but hold the safety rep position. I gotta send my boss reports, and my safety app doesn't allow me to send with the network down. He can't dump on me for it cause he's with Rogers too. Share the wealth, I guess...

So from what I am hearing and by no means take this as gospel, this was not a cyber attack but a software upgrade to a core bit of gear that caused a cascade failure. Why something like that should happen is a bit beyond me, but I'm also a guy with a spare router, spare switches, 2 main backups, a cloud backup and a periodic backup to a portable hard drive. You know, just in case ...

I have Down Detector on my phone and it wasn't just Rogers.

Fido, interact, chatr, Telus, RBC, and all the other major banks were all in the Red all day long too.

I had no problem with Telus today which surprised me because they share networks with rogers.

It's absolutely irrelevant. All towers don't go down nationwide at the same time.

They share towers but Rogers wouldn't even work in the US. It was something internal with their systems, not the towers.
