...and unfortunately all this will do is spark another debate on gun control in the U.S. that won't lead to anything substantive. It really is sad. My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

Too many rules around political correctness, esp between the sexes. Too many prisons. Too many lawyers, too much religion, too little common sense, like what used to rule in the old days. US people not free.

It's doubtful congress will take any action in the near future, despite numerous
high-profile mass shootings and the latest TV shooting.

Plus this: Unbelievably, more Americans say guns do more to protect than
put people at risk.

Just another day in the U.S of A...

Trying to enforce gun control will kill your career in USA, the NRA holds more power than the President.

He is in 'very critical condition'. Sounds as though he was angry about the way they treated him at work; had a grudge against both of them. Accused the female report of racism; the cameraman had filed an HR complaint against him after one shift together.
Except that people at the station were saying that they didn't think that the woman was even working at the station when he was there. Apparently the cameraman was.

The claims of his "grievances" were made by him after he shot them, most likely to try to rationalize why he picked on them specifically.

Most likely they were targeted because he knew that the stations reporters did interviews there, and they basically were the unlucky ones to be there at the time.

Yup...probably the reason, though he may have been after the cameraman....the other two were collateral damage. The cameraman was on hand when the shooter was terminated by the station and in fact filmed it. Seems it was a difficult termination and police were required to remove him from the station. His lawsuit against the station was dismissed. Interesting how he reasoned that all his problems were because he was gay and black, not because he was incompetent and an arrogant prick.
