No I had not realized that the other parties held this view and in fact the tone on the Ndp opposition to bill C36 seemed to be quite the opposite last September. Politically yes I can see the situation but legally if the bill is overturned then it might just turn into a leave it alone deal
What the NDP wanted was more money for transition houses. Their "Plan" (according to Hansard) was that once a Woman or Girl had been "rescued", it would be illegal for her to re-enter the sex trade. So, the "Transition Houses" would, in reality, be female prisons for Women and Girls that had never had a day in court and had never been found guilty (by a Court of Law) of anything.
The Liberals believe that a Woman or Girl is brutalized by having sex. Therefore if a man dates a woman, buys dinner and a movie, and succeeds at getting the Woman into bed - he's a brutal sex offender.
I really think you should look at the "Star Chamber" that the Liberals and NDP set up when two male Liberal MPs tried to have sex with two female NDP MPs. Both men were found guilty by young Trudeau and kicked out of the Liberal caucus, the NDP fought bitterly to ensure that there was no trial. After all, they were Men - of course they are guilty.
There are many reasons to consider voting NDP instead of Conservative or Liberal in this Federal Election. Decriminalization of Prostitution is not one of them.
I dug up two TV reports on the 2 Liberal MPs. The Global report is early (day of Trudeau's announcement) The CBC report is after the "Star Chamber" had decided the 2 MPs fate.

Note that no hearing was ever held with the 2 accused MPs in attendance, the 2 "victimized" MPs were never named, never questioned, never even had to say what happened.
Trials are so inefficient, why bother with them when we all know that Men are always guilty of being Brutal users of Women and Girls?
