Hey 1/4'er... how long is tech inspection usually? Is it beneficial to get there right at 4:30 pm or is 5:15 pm ok if one doesn't need to do anything to the car to get it ready?

I recently bought a new vehicle and I wanna see by how much I can beat Car and Driver's 1/4 mi time for my car ;).

What time does it end and how many runs do u get on avg?

Is it on standard .500 christmas tree or .400 pro tree?

Hey Mav, that would be great to see you join the fun, tech is usually
about 15 minutes, get to the track and line up in the racers gate as soon
as you can, say around 3:00 or 3:30 that will get you through tech the
quickest.

If you get there after gates open and the flood of cars start lining up at
tech, it could be a half hour or more to get through.

If you think the car is faster than 14 seconds you will need a helmet.
Also if the car is older than a '95 you need to drain the anti freeze first.
Pick up a bottle of water wetter, yah that's what's it's called and mix
it with regular water. They don't allow antifreeze in vehicles older than '95.

Some nights we have raced 'till 11:00 at night and barring any disasters you
can get in a good 5 or 6 runs in a night. If its a low turnout I've seen as
many as 8 runs in a night. Talk about good value for the money!
I wonder how many SP's offer 5 or 6 shots in one night if a guy could
manage that !:D

And yes it's all on the pro .400 tree. My personal fav.

Oh so it's gotten cheaper... I thought I remember it being $30 before for 3 runs... or maybe it was $20 for 3 runs... I remember back in the 90's my buddies and I would drive down to SIR... we'd have the whole track almost to ourselves... we'd get like 10-15 runs... we almost got sick of it to be honest! Glad to see u can get more than 3 runs in at Mission now.

My friend's car was supposed to do a 16.1 according to car and driver... we both did 15.3 and 15.25 I think bone stock except 1/4 tank of gas and no spare... he did 15.25 because he was 50 lbs lighter than me (that SOB!!!)... that was with some harsh launching and powershifting though... car and driver don't do dat... LOL

on the pro tree, can u redlight and still get an ET on your printout?

I've got a more important mission to take care of tommorow night, but maybe next weekend... are u there every weekend? Do they allow street legals any other day besides Friday?

Being it's early in the season you get the most runs as summer moves along
and the weather improves more racers come out and you could see as few
as 4 runs in a night, especially if there are any oil downs or......... !!
They allow I believe a maximum of 225 race cars for any given night so it
can get busy.
If you redlight you get a blank time slip. no ET's or anything. Don't redlight!
Actually it's difficult to redlight on a pro tree really.

Here's a link to the park and schedules and such, it's not held every Friday
night but there are quite a few throughout the year.
Sorry to hear you can't make it tomorrow night, hopefully next time.

Last night's street legal races at Mission.

There was a guy there racing his old plymouth voyager baby wagon !
Talk about run what ya brung.

Anyway and update on the drags last night, it was a great turn out.
Close too 150 cars total and lots of fans.
There was a couple of the Ford lightning trucks which appeared bone stock
and they ran a respectable 13.40's outta the box. One car especially caught
my eye, which I had never seen before.

It was a Charger Daytona model complete with rear wing and hood
decalling displaying the Hemi logo. It sported the 5.7 liter engine.
Don't know much about this version but the fella driving it was from the
states saying it was his father in laws car. The car ran 14.20 in the 1/4
Oh yah he also said it was number 40 of only 200 built.

Well the track for me was good except the start line I kept breaking loose
off the jump spinning the tires for the first 20 or feet but it was all hook
up and go after that.
1/4 miles times for the four runs I did were as follows;
12.769, 12.782. 12.720 and a 12.792. All at very close to 106 MPH.

Now on the last run I arranged to have a grudge match with a buddy of
mine last fall we went head to head him driving a gorgeous 74 roadrunner
with GTX hood and badging 440 monster under the hood.
In that run I beat him out by mear hundredths of a second I ran a 12.72
and him a 12.73 and got him at the top end with a good hole shot.

So he'd been running all night in about the same times I had been posting
so we went at it again. I got the reaction time on him by a slim margin but
his beast hooked up incredibly and I still had the tires spin on me outta
the hole and damn if he didn't run his best time ever of a 12.57 what a run
he beat me by 1/2 a car length. I did catch him at about the 330 foot mark
but his excellent 60 footer what proved to be my failing.

Well at least I killed all the others I went up against and fell to a fellow
Mopar. That in itself makes me feel not so bad !:D
So our big rubber match....."pardon the pun girls":D Is set for the next
meet at the friday nite street legals. We'll see then who the best Mopar
is and sure as hell it will continue to go on and on as a friendly grudge
match.

On a side note I did four runs and called it quits for the nite, that was about
9:30 and from what I heard today they got two more runs in for a total of
6. Will I repeat??!!........Damn straight, good value for the money!:D

'Till next time folks keep the racing at the track, not on the street!

Thanks Mav, sure was awesome getting those winter blues outta my
system and getting back to the track. All that adrenaline left me dragging
my ass today, Holy shit I was tired but it was a good tired.

My tranny is a 727 torque flite with stage two shift kit, thinking of putting
in a manual valve body, it will tighten up the shifting a bit more.
Also using a 4000 stall TCS converter.
