Last night's street legal races at Mission.
There was a guy there racing his old plymouth voyager baby wagon !
Talk about run what ya brung.
Anyway and update on the drags last night, it was a great turn out.
Close too 150 cars total and lots of fans.
There was a couple of the Ford lightning trucks which appeared bone stock
and they ran a respectable 13.40's outta the box. One car especially caught
my eye, which I had never seen before.
It was a Charger Daytona model complete with rear wing and hood
decalling displaying the Hemi logo. It sported the 5.7 liter engine.
Don't know much about this version but the fella driving it was from the
states saying it was his father in laws car. The car ran 14.20 in the 1/4
Oh yah he also said it was number 40 of only 200 built.
Well the track for me was good except the start line I kept breaking loose
off the jump spinning the tires for the first 20 or feet but it was all hook
up and go after that.
1/4 miles times for the four runs I did were as follows;
12.769, 12.782. 12.720 and a 12.792. All at very close to 106 MPH.
Now on the last run I arranged to have a grudge match with a buddy of
mine last fall we went head to head him driving a gorgeous 74 roadrunner
with GTX hood and badging 440 monster under the hood.
In that run I beat him out by mear hundredths of a second I ran a 12.72
and him a 12.73 and got him at the top end with a good hole shot.
So he'd been running all night in about the same times I had been posting
so we went at it again. I got the reaction time on him by a slim margin but
his beast hooked up incredibly and I still had the tires spin on me outta
the hole and damn if he didn't run his best time ever of a 12.57 what a run
he beat me by 1/2 a car length. I did catch him at about the 330 foot mark
but his excellent 60 footer what proved to be my failing.
Well at least I killed all the others I went up against and fell to a fellow
Mopar. That in itself makes me feel not so bad !
So our big rubber match....."pardon the pun girls"

Is set for the next
meet at the friday nite street legals. We'll see then who the best Mopar
is and sure as hell it will continue to go on and on as a friendly grudge
match.
On a side note I did four runs and called it quits for the nite, that was about
9:30 and from what I heard today they got two more runs in for a total of
6. Will I repeat??!!........Damn straight, good value for the money!
'Till next time folks keep the racing at the track, not on the street!
