Nuru means slimy or slipppery in Japanese. The purported Nuru lotion or gel is theoretically derived from the Nori seaweed. Nori is a kind of seaweed that lives for one 1 year and the nori spores starts by creeping inside oysters shell and eventually growing into a thread-like form. As the temperature gets colder in the month of September and as the temperature of the sea drops, the nori seaweed dispersed its seeds from the shells. Together with the tides, it dispersed into the sea to eventually grow into the leaves of the seaweed.
Nori seaweed is then harvested as they are also usually entangled in nets. Here is how Nori is subsequently processed:
Step 1- Inevitably, all sorts of waste and sea products are tangled with the seaweed. So, remove by washingit out.
Step 2- You can then cut the nori thinly by knife and make it into a paste form
Step 3- Spread the nori paste evenly over a board
Step 4- Dry the nori under the sun.
Step 5- Strip the nori sheets from the board as they are dried.
So, what is a nuru massage? Nuru massages are suppose to be massage using body to body contact.Since dry skin can cause friction, a gel or lotion is used. Nuru massages are suppose to use a special nuru lotion or gel which makes the body slippery. However, finding the nuru lotion or gel is really hard as they are not commercially sold and packaged as nuru lotion. If you cannot find a nuru gel or nuru lotion, and you want to get a nuru massage, you can substitute it with other oil or gel generally used for massage. They are not as slippery as that of a nuru lotion, but at least it will work well enough for a nuru massage.
A search on EBay yielded nothing so far for the nuru massage gel or lotion. You will not find nuru massages done in legitimate massage parlors given that it is body to body contact in naked form. So, good luck finding a nuru massage and perhaps there are nuru massage services found in major cities such New York (NYC), San Francisco, Boston, New Jersey(NJ), Atlanta and Los Angeles.
