List of hotels that don't need a credit card

It's not financial status... It's adulting silly. I don't care if your checking account is empty, but every adult should have a bank account. It's part of being a grown up functioning member of society. Whether or not they tell you about it, or whether or not they want to use it in this hobby is a different story..l

Or is it about not leaving a paper trail for the tax man?

why would the tax man worry about what you spent your money on

if the sp is not declaring the income that would be different, some liability on that side but that is not an issue for the customer

I didn't realise this, and I was really impressed with the rooms when I was there...

But a hold on a credit card at check in will not show up on a statement, and you can always pay cash at check out.

On hotel holds or gas station holds.....they will show up on my online account as pending transactions. They name the hotel or gas station, they sometimes stay there for a few days.
On the monthly paper bill they don't show up.
