Why is a credit card being used as a deposit an issue? The charge won't show up, it's just a pre-auth, and then you settle your bill in cash or credit upon check out.
I can verify this! I use PayPower Visa exclusively. Immediately before I checked into my lovely suite in River City, I loaded up my card. I walked it, they pre-authorized it, & then reversed the remaining balance back onto my card, at my request. I needed to reload my card while touring & there was not a Reload Pack available at any vendor in Kamloops! Fortunately a dear sweet friend was able to pick one up for me in Vancouver & now tomorrow, I'm going to use it for a great pedicure! :kiss:Both Safeway (Paypower) and Money Mart (Titanium) offer Secured Credit Cards that are accepted by hotels and all online retailers. Statements are online only.
Not so easy! Booking with a credit card, even if it has nothing left on it, that works.... but once you get to the hotel, they'll need to take their deposit on the card that has an available balance (unless the hotel accepts cash deposit). If you use booking.com you just need to use a credit card - it can be a pre paid one or one that doesn't have much credit on it. They just use it to reserve your room. Once you get to the hotel you can pay cash.
I found this to be very handy when I was in NYC and had left my credit card back in Dallas.
No paper trail. I once heard a rumour that a married man hired an escort. Why is a credit card being used as a deposit an issue? The charge won't show up, it's just a pre-auth, and then you settle your bill in cash or credit upon check out.
I don't judge people's character by their financial status.Ladies without even checking account?? Can anyone say red flag?? Lol
The most I have seen for deposit is $200....A $500 or $1000 deposit will be charged against the card and reduces available credit by the same amount until removed.
It could definitely be an issue for some people.
My three day stay in Kamloops required an $800 deposit..The most I have seen for deposit is $200....
It's not financial status... It's adulting silly. I don't care if your checking account is empty, but every adult should have a bank account. It's part of being a grown up functioning member of society. Whether or not they tell you about it, or whether or not they want to use it in this hobby is a different story..lI don't judge people's character by their financial status.
Be nice, Cami! She's a very nice lady, but made a mess of her finances.Ladies without even checking account?? Can anyone say red flag?? Lol
