I was told that the licensed agencies in Winnipeg met with the LE yesterday to make a plan to get rid of all independents.

That they will keep handing out by-law tickets etc and basically force indys out.

I guess the agencies are feeling a bite out of there bank accounts from all the lovely independent girls.

So if a girl can not even get a liscence unless she works for one of these agencies then does that mean that all our indys will eventually work for these horrible places?

What about the fact that prostitution is legal in Canada and its also pretty well known that all "escort" agencies are is a front for prostitution anyways.

At the time, the spokesman fron the city's licensing department said that they were doing so in response to complaints from the city's licensed escort businesses.

Maybe LE should check the criminal records of those who operate the existing licensed agencies instead.

Next time I see Gord Steeves at Nevadas I'll have to ask him.

ROTFLMAO!! I wonder if a mod will delete that one. I've seen a couple of very well known members of Winnipeg's business community entering or leaving there too.

Just a quick note that I am not trying to freak anyone out either just passing along information that I was given.

I can not say 100% that its a fact because I obviously personally was not there but I just think the ladies should know.

Also Winnipegs tax dollars would be far better spent on things that are real serious problems in my opinion.

I can think of a certain someone pimping out some of the Indy's on EC they should pay a visit to. I pity the girls though, and don't wish a bust on them.
Indy's are here for many reasons, most of us don't even have as much as a jaywalking ticket, myself anyways. Who are we hurting?

I can confirm what Ziggy's saying. I have some contacts at the City's License Branch, and I know they were attending the meeting as well.

Between LE busts and Licensing harassment, I strongly feel that the City should be putting their resources elsewhere. If they are so concerned about the perils of prostitution, go get the crack-addicted HIV+ SW's off the street corner, or bust some guy who's pimping a stable of 12 to 16 year olds.

I always wondered about Vancouver and its laws for indies. Whats the deal here anyhow? Why are we so different than most Canadian cities as far as escort licenses?

I also heard a rumour from a friend at CRA that they might have had a part in the whole thing.

It would be interesting to find out what the truth really is. Right now, it's mostly rumours, innuendo and second hand information from anonymous posters who claim to have "reliable" sources.

Just look at all the crap about the Chinese massage place. Every year at this time, they close because the ladies return to China for Chinese New Year. Their door is locked, and their ad disappears frim the Sun. Like clockwork, the rumours start that they've been shut down by LE. A few weeks later, they return, reopen and all is well again.

We need verifiable facts, not speculation.

I just reread and didn't see anyone really "pretending" anything. A little harsh I think. Just some typical speculation or what ppl "heard", but what else to expect in a public board?? Even if someone reasonably suspects something's going down, I don't necessarily always want to ignore for six months or more until all the "facts" are in. Don't regret, guys. That's why I read the board in the first place and take a few things with a grain of salt - I can always try to look into it more if I choose but at least I get some kind of heads up. Better to hear it than nothing but I know I can also keep it in perspective. (Read all/Bank on little, is my rule of thumb.)

You know unless some joker is always saying stuff like "THIS IS DEFINITELY WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN ..." and "I KNOW HOW IT ALL WORKS ..." (easy to spot, and didn't happen here), then I wouldn't make too much of it. If anybody does I think that's their problem.

People at licensing branch talk, you know. They don't always realize that the people they're talking to, over coffee perhaps, are taking mental notes. But people often have loose lips. But I have heard from VERY reputable sources, right from the horse's mouth, that Licensing Branch, with cooperation from LE, will be taking a closer look at the independents over the next few months. That's all I'm gonna say, I'm not gonna name names or anything, as that could tend to identify myself, which of course I don't want to do. 'Nuff said.

Strange Emails

Well I have been getting strange emails,
saying that I have been flagging other ladies ads on craigslist. The email says that they have my IP address and that they know it is me, but I have never flagged anyone.

When I tryed to find info on the "SP" name, there is no ad on EC or anyother Winnipeg boards.

I don't know if this is a prank or what, but I rarely use Craigslist for advertisement. And I don't have time to flag anyone, so I think this could be LE, but from what's going on now, who knows.
