Fred Zed owns the board, but who owns the content?

If I post anything, be that review or other, who owns that posting?

For example, if Jack Frost decided to publish a book "Jack Frost's Ultimate Guide to Vancouver MPs - 2004 edition" using his postings here and make some coin from it, could he?

Could someone take Jack Frost's postings and publish them for profit (or not), without Jack's consent? Could they repost his postings on another board?

If Jack Frost wanted to enforce his intellectual property rights, could he? He has published under an alias, does that mean he has fewer rights to his publications?

I have always wondered about this. It is my guess that there is some fine print somewhere on the site giving them the rights to use the posts. My angle had been a bit different. It centered on boards that started out as free review sites and then transformed to pay sites. In the end, you could end up having to pay to reread a review that you had written.:)

To me, its not a big deal just more of a curiousity.

Better start reading any board disclaimers. Maybe it says somewhere that all content once posted becomes the property of PERB, and by registering you agree. Just to bad for you if you didn't bother reding it.

Interesting question CC. Hows this for an answer.

A couple of years ago myself and a few others had our reviews copy and pasted from PERB and posted on TER.

I notified Fred. He promptly emailed TER and asked that they be removed. Which the complied and banned the member for his actions.

Then Fred made a post on PERB stating that all content on PERB is copyrighted and becomes the propery of PERB. So legally i don't think you can do what you're asking above. Of course Fred has the final word. --- Kev
