Hi!
My first post. Please go easy on me. Just wondering what you earn to keep this costly hobby? I earn about $60,000 gross. The 2 greatest pleasures for me to have are probably money and sex. Roughly what percentage of your income goes to this hobby? So I can gauge my own spending...or lack there of! Lol! Do you ever struggle mentally about spending the money?

I would start off by working out what are you comfortable spending and sticking to that amount. If you happen to go over budget one month then ease off the gas pedal the next. Hope that helps and welcome.

At $300/hr I would say one lady every 2 months, plus one extra for a special occasion like your birthday.
Did I get it right?

It can be an expensive hobby, but some people spend more at Starbucks on sugary water than I do on SPs.

You don't say how old you are, but if you're youngish, open a TFSA at a discount broker and start buying dividend stocks (banks, utilities), and in a few years you can finance your fun with that income.

*This is not meant to be investment advice.

At 60g a year, I would maybe see 2 ladies per year. There was a time in my younger years, hornier than a jack rabbit, this hobby took hold of me and wouldn't let go until I found myself taking cash advances on credit cards to go pooning. It almost cost me my business and house. It was a wake up call. Don't make the mistake I made, take care of the homefront first. Bank whatever you can afford after the bills and investment costs to the hobby and wait till you have enough to play. I am in a current investment situation where I am bleeding money, but will see a huge return once the project is done. I've only seen one lady this year, and only 3 last year. Once the project is in play, I could see 2 to 3 ladies a month.

10 $30 meals = $300. do meal prep! it's also healthier
making your coffee at home could save you $5/day which is $150/m
cycling to work instead of driving can save on gas $ and get you in better shape!
cutting drinking out has saved me about $500/m

lots of ways you can prioritize yourself, your health, AND save money to enjoy this service more regularly.

Charlee, you've explained it to me in real and tangible terms! Ride a bike=poon. Make coffee at home=poon. Eat at home=poon!!!!! Get in shape=poon!?!? I drink too much though=no poon.

Grizzly, that's quite a journey you've taken. You're playing the gambit on your investments? Anyways, I'm 46 and don't know what to invest in. I have a tfsa but it gives me $2.58 interest on 6 figures.

I guess it's all relative and subjective. I get this giddy feeling when the time is right and can't help myself sometimes, cost be damned!

Add in cutting cable, watching those things that leak money out of the budget, looking at moving savings and money management away from the big banks and go Tangerine, Wealth Simple, etc all help too.
And how Ms Beckett are you doing after your beautifying (as if you need it :)) event?

Good advice, lots of ways to save money. For me I'm taking good food and good coffee over good sex, so I'm not giving up the restaurants. For the O.P. some people hate it when this is called a hobby, but treat it like a hobby. To me it has to fit into the funds you have available for a hobby. So what do people spend on a hobby? 5%, 10%, more of their income? My calculation above was based on 5% of your income. If it becomes stressful or a financial burden it's time to get out. The end of the day remember no matter what housing is going to cost you money, food is going to cost you money, but there is always free sex out there.

I eat good food and drink good coffee every day! I learned how to cook and buy nice local beans. Recently I started learning how to make Japanese food, I can make ramen from scratch now with those yummy jammy eggs... mmm.

Also yeah this isn't a hobby that's gross. It's a service.

Some things I make at home. I'm not going out for a steak when I can do a better job at home. I can't do Indian food justice, and foget about sushi. As for coffee I've tried fresh beans, grinder, press, etc... Just can't get it right. The first sip of a great coffee... chills!

Passive income or work overtime.

The problem with overtime though is that it affects your health, so don't overdo it

Tried a pour over and temperature controlled kettle yet? That’s the good shit hahaha.
Sushi I just started getting good at! It’s pretty easy to make decently. I might try Indian next!

Need to know a lot more than just income to determine these things. With the lifestyle I lived when I made 60k/yr (adjusted for inflation of course), I would not have seen SPs. I prioritize different things than you as well so you'd have to consider that too.

My mantra is to not do it if the money concerns me, fortunately it's not often these days it comes up.

I’ll answer each question:

Hi!
My first post. Please go easy on me. Just wondering what you earn to keep this costly hobby?
I got into this when I was in my early/mid 20s. I was making just over $100k a year and back then it was $160-$200 to see an amazing girl.

I would go randomly if I wasn’t in a friends with benefits or casual boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.

I earn about $60,000 gross. The 2 greatest pleasures for me to have are probably money and sex.
Like you, and many other men, this is a common answer. The skills to attract one, often attracts the other. If you focus your efforts independently on how to be successful with your earnings and how to attract and charm others in a genuine way, your income and your sociability improve.

Roughly what percentage of your income goes to this hobby? So I can gauge my own spending...or lack there of! Lol!
My current situation is not a typical one but I can refer back to a time where my life reflected some level of normalcy.

There was a stressful time in my later 20s while building a business and making very little income.

During a 8 month period, I refused to see an escort and I also refused to have sex with woman, even when the opportunity presented itself.

I knew that if I went to see woman it would trick me into thinking where I was at in life was okay. For me it wasn’t. I wouldn’t give myself what I wanted until I worked hard enough to get it.

I still went to the gym and made a strong effort to socialize with people/woman and it was difficult

I’m highly aware this is not normal behaviour but my outcome is also not normal either. If you really like money and sex, focus on the money part, and that starts with pulling your income up. You’d be amazed at what you can do when you force yourself to.

If you really must go, then have an entertainment budget for yourself and allot a % towards that total. Seeing a woman on $60k a year means maybe you don’t go shopping or eat out as often. Never compromise your savings and your plans to build for this sort of experience.

Do you ever struggle mentally about spending the money?
See above. I’ve struggled many times but I’ve always used that struggle as my brains way of telling me that I need to get my shit together.

Here is a unique way to look at this from a high income earning perspective.

If the average annual income in Vancouver is $100,000 and someone is earning $10,000,000 per year, it’s 100 times more income.

When you are looking to buy something, take away 100x off the price.

So when an ad for an escort is $400 per hour, it’s the same as an average person spending $4. You want to spend the entire evening with her for 5 hours? $20.

Imagine seeing a 10/10 model and you pull out a $20 to live out your wildest fantasy. The biggest challenge is how not to wind up falling down a rabbit hole at that point.
