After watching the Canucks/Avs game tonight, I saw one team ready for playoff hockey and one team that wasn't. Looking at them for the season which is nearly at a close, how successful will they be this spring?

I say either Nashville, Detroit or Chicago will bounce them in the second round (depending on where those teams finish). The 6 seed will beat the Pacific Division winner and The Canucks will beat their first round opponent but will be overwhelmed by their second round opponent, which I think will be Nashville at either the 4 or 5 seed. Thoughts?

Luongo will take us all the way
LOL. Well you would be in the minority thinking that, my friend. But hey, after tonight's game everybody will think he's a saviour until his next bad game when they feel he should be run out of town on a rail. Bandwagon city.

To the golf course... I am hoping for a 1st round knock out (even have money bet on it) as I'd love to see AV and (fingers crossed) Gillis fired but more than like they will be bounced in the second round. The further they go the more likely both AV and Gillis will get a reprieve.

But if Schneider plays then I'd love to see them win and will happily become president of the AV / Gillis fan club.

Luongo will blow the first two games in the first round and and AV will get him riding the pines all the way. Meanwhile, Corey will show us the promised land :D

As good a chance as any and better than most.
The west is wide open.....5-6 teams could win it, none are really hot right now....maybe the Hawks are the hottest right now.
Positioning will be a big part of it. If Canucks finish second, they get the easy first round, then maybe the pacific champs. If this happens, then a pretty easy ride to the final.

Other than Pittsburg, noone in the East is that hot either. I have the hockey package on cable and watch quite a few boston and philly games, they aren't as good as some people think either....Boston plays lots of stinkers with no effort too.

Let's hope they "go all the way" this time, & not just tease us. Take it to the hoop, boys, & stuff it in!
Realisticly speaking, though, they should get to first base, but not hit a grand slam.

Likely opponents in the first round - Phoenix, LA, San Jose or Colarado, not a problem. Second round, most likely playing the winner of Detroit and Nashville, should just squeak by. So fearless prediction, Nucks get sent to the golf course in round 3.

The two I highlighted will DEFINITELY cause the Canucks problems, as Saturday would indicate. They had no business winning that game against the Avs and it was only Luongo's stellar play that gave them a chance. It is also the only way they will make it anywhere in the playoffs, as the team is not good enough in front of him, especially without Daniel in the lineup.

The Canucks don't gave that mystique they had last year, especially with the way they have played down the stretch. I think any team thinks they can beat them and I am not sure if the feeling is the same about teams like Detroit or Nashville of St. Louis. Will be interesting what happens to the team if they are not successful in the spring.

I HOPE they get knocked out four straight in the first round, but I THINK they will die in six in the Second round.
