How far do you think LE would go?

TO CATCH AN SP
Would they open a prepay cellular account in another province to give the SP a false sense of security that the potential client isn't local LE because they are from out of province? Anybody can call Telus or Rogers and say I want a phone number from another province. Especially prepaid service.
Meet an SP in a lobby and try to solicit in an elevator, knowing the elevator is considered public?
Do you think they would use non-LE persons to set it up, only to have LE get involved at the time of the meeting?

TO CATCH A CLIENT
How far can or will UC's go. How much touching or communication will they allow to get an arrest? I'd be interested in knowing if anybody has ever been arrested after touching or performing acts, before the actual solicitation, only to have LE try to make an arrest after they crossed the line.
Can LE try to force SP's to give client information from past clients?
With the current privacy act, do you think LE can or does monitor SP's or MP's internet usage or email?

Just another set of brain farts I had tonight.

Be Careful With Msn

About a year ago, I had set up an appointment using msn, had a location and when I got there LE was there. Seemed very suspicious so I left. Not 100% sure that it was msn but the time and place and the LE was a little too close for comfort. Just my opinion!

this is vansterdam, not the 51st state

For heavens sake, for anyone who's ever tried to get the police to attend a b&e, drug activity, noisy neighbours...you gotta know the police are over-burdened as it is. The cops usually don't even show up in these situations.

Open prostitution flourishes on the streets...why would police go digging? Furthermore, the mandate in Vancouver is to get it off the street, outta site. If they go targeting girls working inside, that could displace it back in the open.

It takes ongoing complaints usually in conjunction with an assortment of city officials to get the police to act. And as far as sting operations are concerned, those are hugely expensive & time intensive...the resources for such things are only employed when there's clear evidence of major criminal behavior such as child porn, drugs or human smuggling.

So go support your local well-reviewed sp, we're, err...easy.

Stings in Calgary seem to be a trend. Even for SP's on the inside. Ask any SP in the Calgary area. This is why we have so many girls retiring or taking a break for a while. They aren't just going after SW's here in Calgary.

LE are basically lazy and not the smartest folk around.

Sp's are easy targets....so they go after them.
Just like a speeder or person J-walking etc.

They hate to do real work like catch thieves or bust chop shops or such.
As they may miss out on their hour long breaks 3 times per day at Timmy's and have to do real police work.
So yes i would be cautious out there SP's and Pooners.

My 2 cents

Bear in mind that the police are not a monolithic organisation-there is specific unit for each of these activities. The guys concerned with prostitutution aren't the least bit concerned with "noisy neighbours". The vice, morals, or whatever they are called in a particular jurisdiction have all day to concentrate on hookers. A lot of cops try to get into specialty units because they focus on a specific task instead of running around responding to calls for service.

the problem with any 'sting' is that it can be 'entrapment' and most judges will toss it out.

my funniest experience with the LE happened in Victoria ... had an appointment with an sp at an agency and after a nice chat, left feeling much better ... walk out the door and there are four (4!!!) police cars parked on the street with lights flashing ...

needless to say, nearly cleared the other pipes right there and then!

and what were the LE busy doing? planning a raid? stopping an armed robber? making the streets safe from terrorists?

NOPE! hassling a 5-foot nothing SW who wouldn't give up her corner! Four cop cars to handle the 'situation' right outside a 'known' 'agency' ...

they didn't even give me a second glance ...

so i'm with V on this one ... unless you're doing something really stupid in public, there's not much chance the LE will bother you.
