OH BS ... you don't know how many stupid owners don't bother to pick up their dog's crap out in Yaletown. It's a freakin' minefield out there. Walk by anywhere in Yaletown and look at the grass on the side of the sidewalk. Looks a little burned. Guess what, it's not from fertilizer.
Yaletown yuppie, holier-than-thou pet-fad owners are the most irresponsible citizens of that neighbourhood.
LOL That's because grass is so hard to find in Yaletown that all of the neighborhood dogs end up going on the same little patch of grass. Don't blame the dogs or the owners, blame the dumbasses who decided concrete was the new urban design fad!

I'm not even kidding... anyone see that horrible horrible *ahem* 'park' at the corner or Nelson & Mainland? I lived in one of the towers there and walked over to Starbucks shaking my head at the pathetic view. Truly pathetic. As in, sad sad very sad. And ugly:

Try to find any grass around there, there's hardly any. Then you wonder why it's yellow? That's why. Cause one little patch of grass and 100 dogs who need to pee and this is what you get. Dogs are not the problem, neither are the owners... who ever had a hate-on for grass and decided concrete was better is the problem.

Dumbass.
Fuck I hate Yaletown. Gross. But let's not go there, I'll leave that rant for another day.
As a dog person, I generally take my dog everywhere with me. Small dog, not too tiny, but able to carry around in my hockey bag. I know obviously not to walk dogs in supermarkets/department stores/etc, but not being allowed to carry pets, I personally think that's outrageous.
The reason I mention kids is that the reasons they always give me for not letting me bring my pet along is for sanitary/hygenic reason. Seriously, kids are probably the most filthy beings there are. Sneezing, peeing, barfing, and other disgusting bodily fluids.... surely cleaner than my dog that's not even touching/doing anything...
I can't even bring my dog to the patio to eat!
I'm not those careless owners either that leaves their dogs in the car... unless it's during the fall and it's not even uncomfortable in the vehicle, so I basically have to leave my "Fido" at home and pray that my neighbours don't start complaining that my dog won't shut up.
We all say Vancouver is a pet-friendly place, but I'm starting to think it's more talk and advertising than anything. Or am I just wanting to much?
Vancouver isn't really a pet friendly place; just ask any pet owner looking for an apartment... Vancouver is the worse when it comes to not allowing tenants with pets. But for everything else, it's all similar no matter where you go when it comes to pet friendliness... it's very poor.
It isn't to say that there are not many many animal lovers out there, but the ones who dislike them, really take it seriously. I come across it all the time, and it's not always because of allergies! My mom is really allergic to cats and has now developed allergies to dogs as well, so I know what it's like. But in cases where there are no allergies involved (most of the situations I've come across had nothing to do with allergies at all), people can be really intolerant when it comes to dogs. Honestly, it pisses me off!
When I'm traveling with my dog, one of the things that annoys me the most is never really being able to go out and eat a meal, sitting down at a restaurant. Since even if I'm sitting on a patio somewhere I'm still not allowed to bring her with me, it means my only option is always to take the food back with me or just have it delivered.
Since I started flying with my dog, I've been saying how unfair it is to have perfectly well behaved dogs have to fly in the very loud baggage compartment below, while the snotty whiny annoying kids sit with us and make our whole flight miserable. I'm telling you, there should be certificates; for kids & dogs.. the ones who pass the test and get their certificates get to sit on the plane with the rest of us, and the ones who are not well behaved get to sit below and leave the rest of us alone! Little kids can't sit down there by themselves, you say? I agree, send their parents to keep them company. They can all work on getting that certificate for the return flight home.

Here's your incentive to be a parent!

Get the kid a trainer if you want, but he's not sitting by me unless he's got that certificate!

OK I'm exaggerating (not as much as you would think, I'm almost 80% serious about this one) but you get my point. Why are we forced to put up with other people's bratty spoiled kids, while our well behaved pets are denied?
I think that in general, a lot of people have way too much time on their hands and like to waste time complaining about non-sense and trying to control what the next person should or shouldn't be doing. Just live and let live, and stop wasting time worrying about what the next guy and his dog is doing. Everyone would enjoy things so much more. I mean, unless you are allergic... what the F do you really care if I take my dog at Shopper's or on the bus with me?? Really? Why does it even matter or concern you?
The truth is that it just doesn't it.............. so in essence; you're wasting my time, as well as yours.
Good job! We all need more of our time wasted! Way to go! There's
your certificate.
