I didn't say that the US should be the only ones expending resources to make the world a better place. I think it should be the responsibility of all nations.

In a nice wet pussy!
All wars are fought on the noblest pretext of liberation.

How else could they sell it to the unwashed?

And barring a few, the general population falls for it every time. March back into history, and you'll find the same excuse; only the wording is different. The first Gulf War, Vietnam, Hitler, Napoleon, Julius Caesar. The list is endless. What is and was being liberated however, is not the people, but the resources.

The weapons industry has never had it so good under the Bush administration. After years of stockpiling WMDs, the US is clearing out its swollen warehouses, and producing new, more destructive means of pulverising humanity on a grander scale, and with greater accuracy than has ever been seen before.

The hawks know the clock is ticking against them - the Iraq situation is spinning way out of control. The only visible support in the media are historical illiterate quacks like Ann Coulter, who is still convinced that "Canada" went to war against Vietnam alongside the US, and Bill O'Reilly who can't figure out whether to put his face or his ass on the toilet seat when he takes a shit.

Like I predicted in a previous discussion, Iraq will descend into anarchy and all-out civil war before GWB is run out of town.

Oh yeah, here's a nice photo of Ann visiting the grave of one of her fallen heroes...

After twenty years of wearing the Queen's uniform I find it amazing how easily some people think they can send me out to die for their political views. If horney dude thinks war is such a great thing he should slip over the border and join the American military. They are always hiring. Now I also support the war but the democratically elected Government of Canada said no so I stay here and go to other fun places like Afghanistan and Africa. I guess I just want you guys to know that we are real people too and I don't want to die because someone saw weapons of mass destruction where there were none.

All us snivelling punks are waiting for hd to do just that. Unless he puts his ass on the firing line he's just trolling. It's easy to talk tough from behind a keyboard. The first time I got shot at I just about shit myself! Let's see what he can do.
Twenty years, hmmm, that gives you just a LITTLE bit more credibility than hd.LOL!

There are a whole lot of keyboard soldiers here – and I’ll wear the badge proudly. The reality of what real soldiers from the past endured to allow me to stroke these keys is as distant as the reality of the U.S. occupation of Iraq today. But that’s the point – we all contribute and participate to the levels available, by association or by choice. That some choose to wear the uniform and pick up the gun makes those that don’t no less capable in exercising reasoned thought to dispense passionate opinion. If you’ve shot or been shot at, it’s been your choice - unless you’ve been drafted or conscripted into military service. Given today’s soldier’s choice to enlist, the rallying calls to “support the troops” is somewhat over-played --- supporting, or not supporting the principles and basis for today’s incursions into foreign lands should be the impetus behind rallying calls.

Understanding the distinction between sanctioned/sponsored UN/Nato actions in, say Afghanistan, versus unilateral self-serving acts of aggression/occupation in, say Iraq, is fundamental. It is key to recognize the importance of Canadian military peacekeeping as a significant component of Canada's foreign policy and contribution to the multilateral security system --- military peacekeeping mandated by the United Nations Security Council.

Good news...

And the culprits were fingered by an Iraqi...odd behaviour for a repressed, "victim", no? So much for the US breeding hordes of new jihadis with their actions in Iraq (more like bringing the moths to the flame if you ask me)

And none of the 6 were summarily shot.

And furthermore, if this war is for oil, can someone please show some documentation of stolen oil? US companies bought smuggled oil from Iraq quite openly before the war, and at lower prices than are paid now!

War for oil, eh? Talk about not making sense. If there are any mindless idiots posting here it's those people who don't seem to clue in who the bad guys are...

what i find amussing about all of this, is the point hd is trying to make but like good people everywhere they refuse to see it. Why do you think Arab societies fell as hard as they have since the days of pharohs, this is just a guess on my part and i would say that islam might have something to do with it, but they are destroyers, they dont know how to build, yes view the tapes of the guy being assassinated, and that is for some what the future holds if there not stopped.

You can regurgitate your hatred of your cousins to the south, but it doesnt the fact they want to kill us period, oh by the way the reason it was not an illegal attack is because the u.n has passed numerous resoulutions, plus saddam was in material breach of the cease fire from the 1st golf war.

I know what is going to be said already and that all the good little names you all will call me and insinuate but oh well so goes life when you try to discuss something this important. You almost expect it, but please check your facts out, all the prisoners have lawyered up at gitmo, when the present administration tried to send some back to their home countries the lawyers went to court to try and stop it. If any of you have read many of the reports since 9/11 you will have read that nobody lied the intelligence agencies are just bad and got it all wrong, Those are facts so please quit using those falsehoods in your arguments, otherwise you look just plain silly with arguments that have been debunked. You need to read these two articles about Islam and Europe before making any more statements like you just did. The Arabs and Europe were pretty much equal until the Middle Ages, until the luck of geography caused Europe to move ahead and fundamentalist Muslim clerics decided to turn the clock back.
