A regular trip to my local gym cost me more then I expected today.
Upon putting my personal belongings in my locker (and locking my locker), I went and did my regular workout routine. I returned about 2 hours later, and upon opening my lock & locker, I found that my jacket was in disarray. I then checked my pockets and found my wallet missing. I however though did still have my keys and cell phone (in my other pocket).
I took the immediate steps of cancelling my credit card and my debit card. I made a phone call to my banks 1-800 line and then made a trip to a local branch to pick-up a new debit card.
I also had my drivers license (which I have to replace still) and also some fuel cards that I use for my job. I contacted my employer about the cards. I have also completed a police report at a local neighbourhood station.
My only stress point is "What can they do with my drivers license"? Am I going to be a victim of credit/identity fraud? Is there enough info from my drivers license to do me damage? I did not have my social insurance card in my wallet (if that's needed for Identity theft).
What have others experienced when this has happened to them? I tried calling Equifax/Transunion and all you get is recordings.
Appreciate any feedback/advice, etc. Any additional steps that I need to take?
thanks,
Cruiser
