Wills, Funerals, plots and the people left behind.
Something our society really ignores alot is death in our society. People should make out their wills. In my opinion they should also make their relatives aware of what that will entails. Less arguments when someone dies. Eventually everyone dies.... fact of life.... curious thingy this thing called life.....
When my Grandparents died, they had everything auctioned off and the proceeds were divided between the children. If you wanted a item, you bid for it. At the time I thought it was an unique idea which prevented the survivors from bickering amongst themselves for favoured treasures.
No matter what happens there will always people who raise a ruckus about shit. Sad but true. Also note if there is no will, I believe it becomes the property of the government to look after the estate of the deceased...
Also plan in advance the funeral arrangements and the "farewell ceremony". Less stress on the people left behind. Prepaid funeral plans are an idea. Just be aware the more the survivors want, and its not in the plan, it will cost you extra. Funny but when people buy funeral plans, the idea is that everything should be covered, but the longer time between buying and death, there is a rise in materials cost (inflation).
And then comes the tax implications that apply to the estate. People should be aware of what an executor can do in excising a will too (eg. administration fee).
Also there is the final resting place to consider. The plot of the whole death. Graves or a little urn for the deceased....
Preplan.
