My last console was a SNES personally.
I like the Wii for cranium, it's a fun party game.

For me it's always been the PC tho. Current addiction is torchlight.
Diabloesque type of game. I'd like to see the new call of duty game.

PS3 to me is a better platform, but Xbox 360 has the better network.

The monster under your bed
Being an owner of all of them.
and many from the past..
I personaly like the Xbox over the rest.

I like the WII for the group games and the fit games, but its lack luster at best.
and It doesn't work well on my Plasma..

The PS3 was a gift and it sucks.. the frame rate is a lot slower then the xbox
and most of the games suck. and the blue ray is low end compaired to the one i bought
for my TV..

My PC is now in the trash, I got a mac for obvious reasons...

as for the Xbox360,... its my fav.. right now I'm playin left4dead(I can't believe how many chicks play this one)
I'm still looking for fellow perbers to play on line with.
, and I love call of duty4
I'm going to get the new one today... ohh and don't forget gears of war

but I still love my intelevision (got to love frogger and burger time)
, and sega genisis for battle toads
and I have a dusty comidor downstairs that still works:eek:

To the right
I have never owned a gaming machine or even played games very much. The ones I have tried were golf and baseball, I could figure out which buttons to push easier and keep track of what was going on.

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting one now. I won't be pooning as much, if any, and I need something to amuse myself and keep me occupied. You say the Xbox is the best, but for someone like me with no experience and lack of knowledge, which one is best for newbies? I assume movies can be watched on any of the systems now, but the commercials for PS3 make it seem like it can do anything.

DQ, do you have a system you want to sell along with some games? Maybe I won't get the hang of it or lose interest so I'm not sure if I want to get something new and fancy.

I disagree with DQ Guy and would recommend that you get a PS3. From what I can tell, the only advantage the 360 has is Xbox Live.

PS3 has more interesting exclusives: God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Infamous, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet & Clank series, Uncharted series, etc.

From the list of games for the 360, there's only about 3 games I feel I am missing out on, most of the games I wanted to play is cross-platfform on either the PS3 or available on PC.

PS3 has a better design, low failure rate, more esthetically pleasing, free online play and recent price drop makes it affordable.

It really comes down to how important online play is for you to make your decision. Ask your friends what they have if gaming with them is important.

Markl, how is Torchlight, I've read about it and it does seem quite interesting?

I bought a PS3 as a bluray player, and have yet to watch a movie on it. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but it meets my needs and the games I have all look great to my eyes. What I really like about it is using it to stream movies and tv shows downloaded and stored on my pc, through the PS3 to my home theater. No more burning files to DVD to watch. So yeah, the PS3 is a bit of a do all machine for me.

I've tried the Xbox360 too, and it is a great gaming machine. I've never had anyone tell me about it being a complete media center though like the PS3 is.

I've been wanting to get one too...

From reviews, they say PS3 is pretty much the best on the market right now in terms of graphics and game quality, but it lacks in variety of games.

Wii is only good for Fit, some party games and several Mario games which are only "cute" and "fun". I would say the choice is really between XBOX360 or PS3 for any guys.

I was thinking about getting a PS3 slim, but when I say the teaser for Project Natal of XBOX360, I was pretty shocked.... Maybe I should wait for that... haha

I have a Wii and PS3...the Wii sits in the corner, the PS3 actually gets used. Once the novelty of the Wii wears off, the games are just not all that interesting except for a handful.

Don't know much about the XBox 360, but I've heard from friends that it's pretty awesome for online play.

Torchlight is pretty awesome for the $20 it costs. Uses 3d, so scales well to any size monitor. It's basically diablo. No multiplayer, but they are supposed to make it an mmo in future.

For me, best game I have played in a while honestly. A great time waster. I had an 8 hour session the other day and felt like it was half that.
So yep, two thumbs up!

True the PS3 has some better single player games. thats why I got it.
but like I said the frame rate is a lot slower and some of the cross over games
are a little to easy on the PS3...
But most of the great games suck ass online.

in comes the xbox.. with games like FarCry, Left4Dead, GearsofWar, Bioshock
Fable, Fallout, call of duty, and on and on....
Online Xbox kicks ass..
I also use it for movies, picture downloads, and music. with upgraded memory, its got
alot of room, and the HDMI hook up runs a shit load better for movies then the
low end blueray on my PS3.

and soory to say HB40, but I'd only be willing to part with my N64,
but with games like mario bros. and duck hunt, it would be a tough sell:rolleyes:
