I'm really confused as to what this word means. Cuz every time I see it used, it seems to be a way to dismiss a man who is being respectful, sensitive, and sympathetic to a woman; you know, like...treating her like a human being? And it is often met by other men with violence and degradation. Surely being nice to women is something that should be celebrated? Wtf is going on? Is this some reaction of toxic masculinity to some men starting to actually give a fuck about women? What's the story?

My understanding is that it's a derogatory term created by those in the Incel subculture to attack men that don't display the same feeling of superiority towards women that is so prevelent from that same Incel subculture. I could be wrong, but that's my understanding of where it came from.

I just learned about this term a month ago due to a friend of mine in the digital space that runs marketing programs.

He said he met with a woman/girl who identifies as “queen of the simps” who somehow managed to become famous with her outlandish behaviour as a teenager.

Long story but the end result is she’s making about $700k USD a month at 18 years old being a Internet personality. My friends company is now involved in representing her and it’s BIG business.

She tempts boys and entices them even though they all have no chance of ever having a real relationship with her. She apparently takes a bath and then sells the bath water in cups online and crazy shit like that.

The irony is that these SIMPS are paying for something that will never happen..... but they’re getting what they want in the form of online or physical content.

In my world, to my understanding, "Simp" is rarely used with ill intentions to attack a good man. This is more of a term to describe guys who are nice, respectful and maybe sometimes go the extra mile to impress the girl he is into at his own expense. In such case, this guy might be called "Simp" by his guy friends, but it is not really harmful to the guy's reputation among women. As far as I know, women wouldn't avoid guys that are labeled as a simp.

Since you are looking for the definition of simp, let me take another popular word for better explanation: "Fuck boy". I assume everyone understands what qualifies as a fuck boy and their behaviour, and simp is the exact opposite of a fuck boy in his behaviour and his attitude toward women. As far as I know, among guys, fuck boys are the ones who are being celebrated. So, simps, on the other hand, are being mocked or teased by guys, but it is not seriously harmful for the guy. I doubt anyone would take serious offense if he is called a simp.

Maybe because we have people of all demographics here so the tone of the conversation often escalates quickly, but damn y'all gotta chill. Looking at all the analysis like incel culture... I believe all of us pooners are simps in the eyes of guys who do pick up and date. In the eyes of guys who can seduce women into having sex with him for free, anyone who has to pay money to achieve the exact same thing are simping for women. That's right. Simp can be used as a verb as well.

I self identify as a simp because of what I do in order to get laid. A few years ago when I was hitting the clubs every weekend with my then guy friends, we were basically trying to pick up and date. Based on all of the guy talks we had among us, I know they will call me a simp if they ever knew that I started paying money to get laid.

I have never really enjoyed hanging out with those guys in the first place. But that's the first place I tried in order to get laid. You know, wingman, clubbing those kind of stuff. I got tired of hanging out with those guys after a while. All we did was talking about bitches all the time and busting our asses in clubs with very little return, for me the return was zero.

I have stopped hanging out with those guys since I started partaking in this hobby.

The term is used ironically, to throw shade at gentlemen following the rules of courtship and getting teased for it; which then the term loses all meaning..... But generally, it is about someone who is willingly placing himself in the "friendzone" despite all he'll do for her.

It's a common phrase used in Twitch, Chaturbate, and across social media, where men will donate money to garner her attention during her streams, long enough to believe she is into him, and in his mind he's her e-girlfriend....when in truth she doesn't care, she has 50,000 followers and makes a 1 million dollars a year.

And since it's mentioned, Incels ( involuntary celibate ) are maladjusted "losers" of the genetic lottery that can't garner the attention of girl through any traditional means at all; but at the same time, believe themselves "worthy" because they still play by those traditional rules. However, they are jaded when they constantly lie to themselves and/or have society itself lie to them. Often mixing nihilistic philosophies with MRAs/MGTOW memes or full-on misogynic rants. Often leading to anti-social behaviour towards events you read about in the news.

Like using the word "simp", it's often used to label anyone facing the direction of such anti-societal philosophies, which again loses all true meaning.

With a "simp", the reciprocity only goes one way, from his wallet to her purse, and nothing else was given for as an exchange.
