K..so a freakin dump truck chucked a rock and chipped my windshield today.Does anybody know where I can get it repaired ..or am I looking at a new windshield.?

Ive heard there is an injectable fix for stone chips but am unsure as to where that service is available. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you got the plate # of the truck, call ICBC.

The injectable stuff isn't great, better to change the windshield, depends on what you're driving I guess though.

JJ ..Stick with what little you know.. I've fixed hundreds of WS, as everything else there is a right way and a wrong way. Also there are little mods the good ones use. Find a spot where the owner does the repair and the fix will be stronger than glass.

I've seen what the results look like when a stone chip is 'fixed' on a windshield and as I said, it depends on what you are driving. An old pickup, with rust and dents, who cares if you can see a mark if you look up close. But if he's driving a brand new BMW or something, that's a different story. Sure, it can be done to be stronger than the glass, that wasn't the issue. The question is, if you look at it up close, can you see it?

A couple of years back the same thing happened to me and when I spoke with the ICBC guy who dealt ONLY with glass damage (so I imagine he's dealt with this problem many many times and knows what he's talking about) he said that no matter who does the repair and no matter how well it is done, you'll be able to see a difference if you look right up close.

If he got the plate # of the truck (or even the company probably) then it will be paid by ICBC anyway so why not get the windshield changed?

All you will see if done right is a mark made to inject epoxy. With 2020 eyes you won't see it at driving position. Now some anal types might not be able to live like that. Also you should remember that a WS replacement is never as strong as the factory due to many reasons, a lot of shops use cheap products that barely pass specs. And please don't babble about icky bicky ,6 wk wonders, I have trained ppl that have been in court accepted as experts. Like I said stick to what you know.

I'd have to agree with mick on this. I'm no expert on glass, but do work at import dealership and know there is a difference in quality between oem and aftermarket parts. When ever the glass guy comes around to replace a windshield, it's rarely ever done with an oem windshield.
If i drove a brand new BMW and had a repairable chip, and the rest of the windshield was is good shape (no other tiny chips and nicks so the wipers don't clean well anymore) I'd want the original windshield left in place. Windshield moulding trims sometimes don't fit the same after too. Nothing beats the factory fit and finish.

I went to speedy autoglass to get mine fixed. If you did not know where to look after they fixed it you coould not find it. They did a great job and it was like $35 or so.
