Looking at the numbers showing that 77% of Canada's exports go to the USA, I was surprised to see that this number drops to 50% when considering the province of BC. I thought to myself, what a privilege to have a coastline on the Pacific Ocean that provides access to Asian markets, making this province the least dependent on the USA.

And if the province were to become an independent country, we could leave the rest of Canada to deal with the USA and their tariff disputes, while we focus on doing business with Asia. The province has enough natural resources and doesn't need Alberta's oil, which could end up polluting our beautiful ocean.

Australia, a dry country, neither has Canada's oil nor BC's forests and water resources, yet it thrives by trading with Asian countries and isn't at the whim of a person in the White House. So, we could certainly follow Australia's example.
We will also manage our own criminal law so the sex trade will get decriminalized.

Ah, 1981 and the National Energy Policy.
FREE THE WEST was the cry!!
And there was Doug Christie in all his glory hosting those huge rallies.
Then, it all just dwindled away ....

No Free just BC not the whole west. We don't need Alberta energy let them deal with US tariffs on their own.

For one, keep daylight savings time all year first. But we can't even do that, so the rest is moot.

You missed the sarcasm
I know its the lowest form of humour.
But you go ahead and go for independence. I'll stay as a Canadian (he says as he waves his flag with his left hand and right hand over his heart).

I’m with you. I’m very proud to be Canadian and I’m ignoring the news lately… Lets increase trade with other nations. Those fucking yanks are going to have a shitty time for the next four years at least. Them them stew in it

I don’t mean to disappoint you, but both China and India impose tariffs on Canada and have a history of trade disputes with the country. These are the two largest markets in Asia, so I wouldn’t count on them to be consistently reliable trading partners either.
There's also Japan, South Korea and a bunch of other asian countries. So we don't rely on a single country. Australia is doing business with all of those and they are doing well.
