Madame Cleos has been taken to B.C. Supreme Court. The article was in last month's Business In Vancouver magazine. The lease expired last October. The landlord notified the owner, Karma Managament Systems, last May that they were being evicted. The lease ended last October so that's when they should've been out.
So the Landlord has gone to B.C. Supreme Court to have them evicted. At the time a court order is issued, the landlord can come right in with police officers, seize all the stuff on premisies, shut off power and heat, padlock the doors.
I would hope for the sake of the employees and clients that the situation doesn't come to that. That whole block all the way down to Richards On Richards including the heritage homes is going to be condos.
Beyond that I really don't know that much more other than it's a sad ending to a story that's been around since opening as Cleopatras in 1990.
