It seems every week there's someone different delivering the mail to my building. There has even been someone getting out of a cab and deliver the mail.
They leave boxes outside the condo complex on the step and almost daily put mail for one apt in the box for another.
Its like a 3rd world service and I cant help but wonder what shit belonging to me has gone missing. Yes, I've been waiting on stuff that I've never received.
Maybe if they just delivered the mail 3 days per week they could get it right.

having worked for CP briefly i can attest to what a gong show it is. the whole system is archaic, and the atmosphere is incredibly cancerous because of the relationship between the union and management. every little thing is regulated by the union and the adversarial relationship it causes makes the supervisors turn into real dicks. as for your specific situation if your getting a different carrier everyday that means that the carrier that owns the root is off on long term injury (very common in CP), so basically each morning a bunch of relief letter carrier (fill-ins) show up at the depot and get assigned whatever routes are missing their regular carriers. that's why you're getting lots of missorts. new carriers sorting the route each day will make more errors. as for the cab thing, letter carriers on footwalks get to take cabs to and from the depot and to points in between if it's a split route.

Nope. It was just after lunch on October 16, 1981. That morning, the Canada Post Corporation Act came into effect, abolishing the post office branch of the federal government and creating the current arms-length crown corporation. By lunch time, one could actually see the swirling motion as the whole system started spinning down the drain & that loud sucking noise began.
soooo... let's see which government was in charge of putting THAT one into effect...

ahh yes... the liberals - no surprise there...

ohh, look here... under trudeau!! of course!

and now his kid wants in? :frusty:

I love that you have been able to determine the exact date AND time. I like details like that.:thumb:

I will say that I have not really had any major problems with CP.

Well, let me rephrase that.

I will order things from the US, which I have no idea why it takes so long to get to me. So it is either the USPS or CP, not too sure.

Do people still use the phrase "look out before I go postal on your ass?"

I had a really good delivery person for about five years and they just switched up their routes. I used to give this guy a couple of bottles of wine each Christmas.

I got myself a lazy dog now.

He won't stop at anyone's house but puts a Canada Post notice that you can pick up your package the next day after 5 PM.

I work from home and see him driving by each day. I approached him at the local Super Mail Box and asked him straight to his face if he had anything for my address. He said nope, not today. After he had gone, I opened up my box and low and behold there was a notice stating I could get my package the next day .. . . friken liar.

So i upped the ante on this guy and reported the service to the local depot supervisor which had yet another negative effect. The next package that was delivered was opened and the contents removed with the value being about $500. They or he put a piece of Canada Post Tape on it stating it was received this way. Now I have to deal with the Insurance from USPS which can take six months if you are lucky.

This is why my main source of delivery is FedEx. On time and they know how to ship and deliver stuff.

CP had been profitable for 16 straight years, if that's a sign of government mismanagement then all governments should be like that. Only in the past two years did they lose money. It's 100 times better than the USPS which is heavily subsidized by taxes and still has been losing a lot of money.

Vanessa there is also Customs which can delays shipments.

I send my packages via CP as it's way cheaper than Fedex or UPS, haven't had a missing shipment yet.

Thanks for letting me know Rick. So just another reason people have US post boxes I guess.

CP is only gonna continue losing as people find other methods of communication and shipping.

It seems that "going postal" has become much less job-specific, open to any disgruntled loser of any occupation, so the association of mass homicide with postal workers has lost its cachet.

When I lived in St. John's, it took a week to get mail from Corner Brook or Halifax, and multiple weeks to get mail from Ontario or BC - IF it ever arrived at all (all to often mail vanished en route). When I lived in Alaska, it took me three days to get mail from New York. These are not outliers, but norms. I love a lot about Canada, but USPS beats CP any day of the week.

I should add that I can get packages from Hong Kong or the UK within the week. I got one from Israel that took 7 days. This is better than any shipment from within Canada and still shorter than anything from the USA

I think that Rick Hunter got it right. Until recently I had noticed very good postal service. I had worked in a high mail volume environment and the post was delivered well. Then about 2 or 3 years ago this changed. Lots of stuff going missing, ridiculous delays etc.

Perhaps some of it is the accumulation of poison within the employment environment.
I have been a union member and manager within part of the federal govt. system.
The unions are terrible, but management is vicious. The higher I went the worse the stench of twisted agendas controlling the service.

Makes you want to just clear it out and start again.

Thanks! Good, so I will not use it again, not that I did much.

Friend of mine who used to work for them told me they've been outsourcing a lot of their internal work abroad...
