What are your plans for New Year's Eve? This year, for the first time in ages...I have NO plans bi choice!!

When our kids were little, we did the Old Spagetti Factory and Fireworks at the Forks...when they got older and started doing their own thing, we started doing the big party at the Convention Centre and did that for a couple years...then about five or six years ago we did the swingers social circuit followed bi afterparty orgies...then we just scrapped the social and went right to the orgies :p...a couple years ago we hosted New Year's Eve parties aka orgies at our place...it was fun but we were the hosts so it was still a little stressful...

This year, we are staying home...ordering in Chinese food and that's about it...I just have no desire to do much of anything that requires leaving the house or preparing for guests...

So, what's everyone else doing?

Same as always, small dinner party with 6-8 close friends. It's a nice relaxing way to end the holidays.

Staying at home, having a nice sirloin steak with a bottle of red wine (Old Vine Zinfandels and Argentinian Malbec seem to be my favourite these days), cuddled up in front of the fire, watching a movie.

Anything you want to recommend? I have my usual on hand already but one more never hurts.:)

Excuse me for just jumping in....but :)...I love the Wyndham Estates Bin 555 Shiraz...Fat Bastard Chardonnay...and if you really want to do something special...Bin 60A Coonawarra Cabernet Kalimna Shiraz - the vintage is 2004 and for collectors it's been reccommended to age the wine for three decades...personally I'm not that patient and got into it fairly quickly....at $580/bottle, you want to share it with as many of your close friends as possible...or hide it in your closet and savour it till you've completed the bottle alone or with someone exceptional...

Bin 555 is one of my fav's as well. Also bought Bloodstone Shiraz, a J Lohr Cabsav(gift from a friend) and surprisingly a red Zinfandel from the US by Dancing Bull. A friend had it over Christmas and it was much better than I expected. I'm not much for the high $ wines, just like to enjoy what I like and there are lots to try between $15 and $50.

great choices...and you are so right...some of the best wines I have enjoyed are in that price range...it's just so rare to be able to even taste something like the penfold....especially here in Winnipeg...although it was a gift someone brought in from out of town...I really have never encountered anything like that before... :) Have an awesome new year's eve with your small group...and all the best in wine and wisdom ;)

Whatever happened to Baby Duck? Easy drinking, nice plastic "cork" that pops, and easy to afford on a pooner's budget... the Ginger Ale of Champagnes....

Having worked a dozen or so New Year's in the past in my old service industry job, I can safely say that I do not give a rat's ass for the whole "celebration on NYE" thing...

That in mind, I will stay home as I have happily done for the last few years, watch some movies & have a good time without the idiots in the bar scene...

Here's a tip - if you want to order Chinese, better fucking do it NOW! ;)

I was a bartender when I was going to college, and I'd have a blast working on New Year's Eve. The boss would usually offer us double time to work, I'd usually bring in $300-$400 in tips on that single night (when my share of the cheap rent was only $150/month, it went a long way), it would be lots of fun for us working, I'd be sober all night long 'til the place closed at 3:00 a.m., then the staff would kick back and have a few. I'd be going home at 6:00 a.m., with a little buzz on but not too drunk, and a ton of cash in my pocket. One year I even got a nice BJ from one of the waitresses. Who could ask for a better New Year's Eve?

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel is my current favourite. About $17 at the MLCC, but in the States you can pick it up for about $9-10 a bottle. Last March I picked up a case for $95 in Fargo.

New Year's Eve

I am welcoming a gentleman who will be glad to be sharing a tray full of delicious raw oysters and Champagne,....nothing but the best;) What happens afterwards will be our little secret.

Happy New Year to All, may it be prosperous and very fulfilling.

Don't get me wrong, I've made shitloads of cash over the years, it's just dealing with drunken idiots for so long that's tainted the "holiday" for me after many years...

After working so many of them, it's just another night - everyone just happens to be dressed up a little fancier, that's all...

A SAVAGE LUST GARDEN
The last time I went out on NYE, I went to a club that has a capacity for 200 people and they jammed it with 400. Disgusting. I usually do the DD thing but I'm tired of driving with drunks. There are a few clubs that are walking distance from me in St.B that I may go to.
