There was a book called, "Fast Food Nation," that did it for me.

I would never go to one of these fast food chains. I've read and watched horror stories about it. And Starbucks is a true nightmare. When I don't feeling like cooking I rotate between 2 family-owned places here in town for takeout for lamb or beef curry, or the shrimp pad thai with tofu. A definite 'no' to sugar-laced, hideously overpriced specialty coffee drinks.

Wow, you all need to go on a vegan diet or something.... Ever heard of leftovers from your own fridge....

If you are eating there all the time its a problem. Not if you only eat there on a weekly basis. If you are health conscious, you know what you can order at fast food resturants.

The problem with most of these places are the workers who don't give a fuck. They have to follow health regulations when preparing food etc. Not washing hands is a violation of those health standards/regulations.

But one fact is certain, it is that big Macs are tasty......

Some people are over-thinking the food too much. I'm sure visiting fast food chain a few times a year won't kill you. I used to eat a lot of Big Mac during high school and university days, and now from time to time I crave Big Mac.

asf- so true about how a Big Mac once twice a year is not going to kill you. But the best food you can put in your body is the food you cook from fresh ingredients from your fridge and pantry!

"Have you ever had a Whopper Jr. from Burger King? Neither have most people.
If you're going all-in on Whopper flavor and ingredients, why not just get the full-size Whopper?"

Plenty of people eat Whopper Jr.
Also, because the ratio of ingredients in the junior yielded way better taste. When I did eat fast food, I'd have 2 Whopper Juniors vs. one Whopper.

More of a click bate article. It also made me crave a burger.

Don’t eat fast food burgers.....if I wanted to consume hamburger from an old breeding cow, thats been triple ground to hide the age of the carcass, then laced with mystery fillers......I’ll go buy a bag of dehydrated dog food.
At least if I do that.....the labeling and marketing is accurate.

I'm guilty of being a restaurant junkie but I do try to make "somewhat" better choices. I usually choose local places over the fast food franchises. If I do go to a franchise it's something like a Five Guys or a Za Pizza. I get the Big Mac craving but I can't justify the price or how I feel 1/2 hour later.

I love A&W, the burgers and especially the root beer. Okay, I know not so healthy but don't care. :)
I had my fav Uncle Burger with Bacon and Cheese, onion rings and root beer yesterday ?

A good source for checking restaurants sanitary conditions, Vancouver Coastal Health has a published list of offenders. For those mom and pop shops you’ve never visited and are considering taking a chance.
