I am back in Cali for a few weeks and got together with a few of my activist friends. I'm feeling a bit guilty about abandoning them for my job in Vancouver but I'm going to help them out while I'm here. We're getting together supplies and essentials to welcome the newcomers. But it looks like that FACIST PIG TRUMP has gotten the Mexicans to tie them up at the border.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...avan-mexico-trump-guatemala-border/1696425002

But I have no doubt the Mexican border guards do have a moral compass and will let them pass. The main issue is what supplies will the newcomers need. I am thinking bottled water and food for sure but what else? I'm listing stuff below but does anybody have experience working with refugees and give me some suggestions on what they may need?

Water
Food
Infant formula
Daipers
Medicines
Clothing

YOU CAN HELP
Call the Consulate General of Mexico and demand that they do not listen to that facist pig and allow the refugees though their country so they can find a better life away from the violence hardships they face.

Everybody counts. Most of these migrants want a better life in the US (the so called land of opportunity), most are running away from poverty, and crime in their original countries.

Charity should start at home. So help the local homeless people first.

If people are willing to help themselves, then why shouldn't we give them a helping hand, so they become productive members of society....

Wouldn't be any migrant problems anywhere if people would keep their reproductive habit in check.

Yeah. You can let in as many people as you want ... the day after there is no more welfare, disability, food stamps, or government provided medical care.

yes. we need more fine upstanding people, for instance. This guy

"28-year-old Syrian national Ibrahim Ali, who came to Canada as a refugee, has been accused of murdering a 13-year-old girl in Burnaby, British Colombia, whose body was found last year.

The Syrian refugee, who came to Canada through a private sponsorship programme, was arrested last week by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after a large-scale investigation into the death of the 13-year-old, who was found in Burnaby’s Central Park in July 2017."

Born and raised Canadians rape and murder in much higher rates than refugees, but spin you're false narratives I guess.

Kinda reminds me when I was in Cambodia, was told Cambodia is a pedophile haven for westerners, so I did a bit of research, 300 people where arrested for sex with a minor, 3 were western, 297 were cambodian

Asylum-seeker surge at Quebec border choking Canada’s refugee system, data show ...

" Overwhelmed by the number of migrants, the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) has only managed to finalize 15 per cent of the 27,674 asylum claims made by people who illegally entered Quebec –
where the majority of the crossings took place, mostly at a single location near St. Bernard-de-Lacolle – between February, 2017, and this June."

This caravan is a political stunt. About half the people who started have already given up and gone home.

I was recently in Guatemala and Nicaragua. Nicaragua is a poor country with a corrupt, violent, oppressive government. The police and military are hated and feared. Crime is rife, but not all-consuming as it is often portrayed in the MSM. Guatemala has a better economy, better government, less crime and a stronger economy. I talked to many people, and most are poor, but those places are their homes. They'd loved to have better, richer lives, but have no reasonable expectations. They spend a lot of time, primarily led by student demonstrations, protesting the government.

Many go to other Central American countries for work, but always return home. Home is home.

The OP might think he's doing something altruistic, but it's just political activism. In short, these people, and the ones gathering items to "welcome" them are being used to embarrass and provoke Trump and to try to affect the mid term elections.

Trump has said they can apply legally, but won't just be let in. That's the same policy any other president would invoke.

I dunno im conflicted on this entire migrant thing.

read in the paper, cbs Canadian border services
have been given a mandate to remove 10k a year, of migrants that don\t qualify

some one said there are
50 million refuges wanting to come to Canada and the u.s etc,
also stated there are 5 billion people wanting to leave third world countries wanting to come to Canada , u.s Germany etc, 5 billion

my one biggest thought is,
we treat the people that can show up at our border q jumpers right away, and let people in refugee camps languish for ever,
not really fair,

just heard an article the ysemie not sure the name, they have been persecuted in Iraq for generations, there are thousands and thousands in refugee camps

the problem is a lot bigger then, a few thousand people trying to crash the border legally or illegally
letting a few thousand into Canada or where ever is simply a Band-Aid,
and personally I think they are q jumpers.

they screw it up for actual refugees

but I guess its easy, letting a few in who can actually make it to the border,
then processing someone in a actual refugee camp,
in the case of those people from Iraq, they have been persecuted and suffered genocide for a long time
it was suggested that they would need major help psychological help, therapy

so do the easy thing instead of the hard thing,
