QM, you are absolutely correct. That is one of the reasons that most western countries have the segregation of religion and state. (I would have said church and state but it applies to all religions, not just Christianity.

It is probably hard to find any country that has not segregated church and state that isn't somewhat, if not totally, f...ed up. And it doesn't just apply to Muslim countries.

As all citizens regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, or religious preference etc. are theoretically equal under the law, Canada is therefore a secular state ie. no official state religion granting special privileges to those of that religion, as in Israel for example.

We'll leave out for now the effects of economic inequality on that theoretical political equality for another day
