I had posted once on FB after a KISS concert that it was an utterly amazing show. Friend of mine of course pipes up, "Kiss sucks". He then posts an alternative song choice by Ke$ha, or whatever the fuck that dirty skank calls herself. My reply to him was, you have the right to argue my musical tastes when Kesha is around for 40 years, and has sold 160 million + albums....
Here's a real band...and btw...they have been around 30+ years and consistently have the highest grossing and best reviews for their tours...something KISS or any band cannot claim...Facts are facts...

I.M.B...with all due respect.... And I like U2......U2 has always has extreme radio and video play support whereas KISS was never supported by radio. Believe me, that makes a major difference. Media shoves what they think people should listen to. Therefore, having major radio airplay etc means, your audience is 10 times larger than bands who don't get radio airplay.

Without a doubt, you are right .....U2 are a massive band and have the largest tour sales to date. But.....KISS has their own legacy. One of the....if not...the most influencial bands of all time, in all gendres of music from Rap, New age, Metal to country. FACT!

Kiss was the 1st band to ever play a concert over 140,000 in a stadium.

#1 band American band with the most gold albums sold in North America.

3000+ licensed merchandise products by them. NO other band can stand up to that. And we all know that KISS today is a business more than a band! In fact, over $1 billion is sales worldwide.

1996, KISS was the highest grossing tour of that yr ....that tour figure in todays # with adjusted inflation would have been over $220 millions. Yet...that isn't shown in wikipedia. Hmmm, why is that? KISS have had many many sold out tours as well.

Have sold well over 100 million albums ( without air play I might add ) and Kiss were the 1st band to break records done by icons before them, IE..Beatles, Elvis, The Who, Led Zepplin, etc. Check out their History.

KISS started the iconic stage shows we all see today. That's a fact! Their shows are outstanding with full force energy!

So...U2, again...your right... huge in tour attendance numbers and cd sales as well. But KISS has their own house and a house that can stand up to anyone. And I mean anyone. Wikipedia or thier website has all the info about them and their history. Their resume is way too much to mention here.

KISS ....40 yrs later....are still going strong and with a new cd out next week !
Having grown up in the 70's i gotta dissagree. Kiss & ABBA(both bands that i can't stand) were being played every 5 minutes on the radio back then.

ITB

Why is it I get a vision of you wearing a hockey helmut and being driven around on a little yellow bus? Can't seem to shake that image of you in my head for some reason.

Nobody said who was the "best", or "the highest grossing" or yadda yadda yadda. I complimented Kiss on being the "hardest working". Read between the lines ITB. They are not the most talented nor the highest grossing band but do work very hard at getting their tours out there.

I have seen U2 four times, Aerosmith Six times, Tina Turner five times, Stones Five times, Roger Waters three times, Springsteen four times, Bon Jovi three times and will see Paul McCartney for the second time in November.

I have traveled just to see bands in Tacoma, Anaheim and in Vegas.

All of these acts have been around a very long time, all have great music, and play to full arenas and stadiums. I have enjoyed them all. How can one say one band is better? Just by counting the $$$? If that's the case you will have to put Justin Bieber on your list of acts to see. :pound:

Really....regarding KISS....overall....Your dead wrong. Not compared to bands like Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep, Hendrix, beatles, Stones, Boston, Cars....and endless AM radio songs back them. I grew up in that era and followed KISS...and still today. I never heard their songs played except Beth, which was pushed heavily .....thats about it.

I guess it depends where you were. But in the west.....they were never pushed and most critics even said that. Kiss was never a radio band.

If you followed and read about them, most radio stations avoided and refused to play kiss because of their gimmick. Thats how the KISS army was created. And....btw....that was also a local ( Michigan state ) publicity act. Not nationwide.

Kiss was always about the showmanship / live entertainment aspect, which people back then never grasped. Excepted the fans.

But everyone has their own opinion I guess.....which is cool.
We both grew up in the 70's & i heard them all the time plus the bands you mentioned. not just am but fm too.seems like every long weekend every station has a top 1000 songs thru out the weekend & i remember hearing them along with other horrible bands like the bay city rollers. everyones got there own taste in music, myself i'd rather listen to 3 hrs of Zeppelin as opposed to "Lick it up" & "Beth"

Adele can sing, but she needs a serious diet...not to mention more than 1 hit...
Sorry but why does she need a diet? She is known for her voice, not her body type. I'm happy she got so popular despite her size. Shows that some truly enjoy real talent not just listen to her because of how she looks.. Her weight is her problem (or not if she loves herself), not her fans and it's nice to see that she can be real unlike most top 40 hit artists who consistently fake and bake and live off cocaine and diet energy drinks.

Kiss sucks but if some people like seeing dudes get dolled up in makeup, blow off some fireworks, spit blood and play pretty sh*tty music, all the power to them :pound:

They have about 3 songs worth listening to and then a whole lotta crap....decades of it. But hey, if people wanna go see them live and enjoy it......all the power to them! But please don't tell me you put on a Kiss album and listen to it....lol not a chance!
I couldn't agree more! Funny shit!!!:pound::nod::clap2:
