For a lot of these people, Vancouver IS UNIQUE, believe it or not.

For example, last year, because of my work, i had to spent some time with our Chinese partners/investors and show them around Vancouver. These senior level Chinese Party members were blown away with Vancouver and its fresh air, clean water and space.

anyways, we have a good thing here, however, the secret is out. I can not remember now where i read this stat, but,it has been estimated that lower mainland population will double in the next 10 years - if you have a house in vancouver, watch it go up!
The best is yet to come. Time will come when owning land in Vancouver will be like owning land in Tokyo or Hong Kong. Investors with patience will be greatly rewarded as in the message of " Salmon Fishing at the Yemen ".

Vancouver is such a great and dynamic city. In fact, urban planners from all over the world like China, UAE, Finland, and the United States to name a few visit our city regularly to study and observe it with the intention of replicating it in their respected urban cities. Where is Abu Dhabi and Dubai patterned after?? Beautiful Vancouver ;)

It's been raining here past 5 days, gonna keep up through this weekend. We've had a few breaks of an hour here or there, but for the most part none stop. Can't even walk the dog down to the store or play with him the yard (way too dirty). Got my clubs all cleaned as a couple driving ranges and one of the par 3 courses opened, but that idea is shot to heck now. Getting really bummed out, haven't even bothered to change out of pajamas last few days. Glad I didn't take the tent off the hot tube when it was nice last week.

HOW DO YOU COPE WITH THIS CRAP?! I need some outside!
Go fake and bake tanning or come down to Puerto Vallarta for a week.

Even the moneyed Russian investors, with RE portfolios mostly invested in London and NYC, are starting to spread the wealth in Vancouver. Exciting times ahead. London - New York - Vancouver ( that's how it goes ). :) :)

Have you considered writing copy for one of the RE development companies, or perhaps joining one of the RE boards and giving interviews to the media?

For the money paid I dont think the lifestyle is all that great in Metro Vancouver. Takes forever to go from one part from town to another. You guys have only one real freeway in the metro area and chocked with traffic. Tons of restaurants but how much food do you really need to eat before you get obese? For me I rather have lots more elbow room and room for my toys. I see myself in a Can am 3 wheel toy down the road. And raising horses.

The OP's posts don't make sense to me - says he's tired of being cooped up because of the rain but then tells us he's not here, he's on the East Coast? Anyway, my advice was GET A JOB then you'll have reason to get out of your PJs and go outside....

I've been told it rains alot in Vancouver. Currently it's raining alot here (something I'm not accustom to), so really I just needed to get a rant off my chest. Oh I have a job, I'm in a union, just finished last bit of school and I'm waiting for my turn on the list to swing round so I can head back west to work (lobbying for work past a certain extent is very frowned upon). But your suggestion is so much better, I should tell the union to shove off and go work around here for 50% of what I'm used to making. Great idea....

Makes perfect sense.

On the one week of the year when it snows in Vancouver and chaos ensues, locals wonder how others survive in climates where it's winter almost 8 months of the year.

When someone out of Vancouver experiences an extraordinary amount of rain, they wonder how Vancouver folks put up with it.

I remember in the early 90's, some of the producers of this popular action-adventure series MacGyver felt so unhappy about the rains in Vancouver that they decided to move Season 7 to the City of Angels after shooting here for several years. They were stunned by how expensive it was to shoot in LA and the show never made it to Season 8. Sometimes you gotta stop and smell the roses.

It was 28degs at 6.30 in the evening on Tuesday in Osoyoos, nearly reached that on Wed too.. Pissing with rain all day Thursday, but sunny again this morning, Friday.. So glad I left the coast!:D

When I first came to Canada I was told "you can tell if someone is from Vancouver, they have moss growing on their back"..

Ahhh, union!! lucky you. So you're expecting a raise any day while doing nothing but bitch about the rain ;) Seriously though, the rain bothers some, it doesn't bother others... I've lived here most my life but have lived elsewhere too and I get a good laugh when someone complains about it raining 2 days straight - you ain't seen nothing yet... Another thing that surprises people about Vancouver weather though is that it can change in a matter of minutes....

If I had a choice I'd be back in Phoenix...

Find your favorite SP and get her to come over, misery likes company.

I make miso soup or Thai red curry soup on rainy days.
I was in Scottsdale, AZ about 10 years ago and it was 117 degrees one day. You couldn't even leave the house during the day the whole time I was there. My dad and I hit a few garage sales but because of the heat you'd have to wake up at 6 AM to go to them. No ocean so I wouldn't want to live there.

Sedona would be a good place to stay in AZ.

Amen

If you walk around Warsaw, you'll come across girls that look like Joanna Krupa. If you walk around New York, you'll encounter the Alyssa Milano types. In Montreal, you'll come across the Jessica Pare types. However, in Vancouver you'll come across the Rachel Roberts and Chelan Simmons types and they're wearing LULU. Holy Grail indeed.......

You are the exception as everybody loves it here.
No problem finding somebody to pay $700 sq/ft for a condo and $1.5+million for a rodent infested home on the west side.
Van...is the greatest city in the world!!! Amazing job market as well...so much opportunity to make $10 to 15 per hour!!!

Maybe during the summer. But from October until March Vancouver is depressing as hell. I lived there from 2003 to 2008 and thank God I only stayed there for one winter.

Viva Mexico!!! The average temperature is 28 degrees. And unless you're a drug dealing gangster Mexico is very safe.
