The first time I heard about this type of COVID infection was this week. I knew about it but didn’t know the terminology. It was brought to my attention when discussing my situation at a local COVID testing centre.

The background is I’ve had all three COVID injections plus the annual flu shot. Lifestyle wise I’m not as active as in the past and socialize maybe once a week. Usually with the same circle of friends. Self isolation has become my new lifestyle.
Being COVID positive was naturally a shock to me because of all the precautions I had already been taking.

So now a week of self isolation and hope I’ve now built up enough antibodies to fight the next variant.

Stay safe and healthy!

Stay safe sir. People I've known who caught covid while unvaccinated had it worse the second and even third time. Hopefully the vaccine means we have it less bad.

https://perb.cc/xenforo/threads/omicron-variant.312762/

is a thread noted in November before there was a lot of data on the Omicron variant. The then very early data noted breakthrough infection was possible, now that is verified. A LOT of factors play into this including the person's overall health but the chance of getting sick, hospitalized or death is greatly reduced with vaccinations. The problem is that Omicron is much more infectious than either the original virus or Delta, is harder to detect in tests and can (in some cases) get past the antibodies your body creates from the vaccines. And with so many more people getting the virus, stats are such there will be hospitalizations and deaths, which is what we have seen December to now.

It's a broken record but just get vaccinated if not for yourself but to free up a hospital bed someone might need.

How was your experience? Mild symptoms? Or worst?

There's been a lot of people in my office who've caught Covid and was asymptomatic. They didn't know they had it until days later and I'm pretty sure somewhere down the road I've caught it.

I've wear masks all the time, wash ahds and sanitize everything but yeah as long as I'm not showing symptoms I think there not much can we really do with the new variant
