It doesn't matter if you don't tell them where it's from. The phone has an ESN which is carrier locked in Canada. Telus and Bell do not alow phones that are not pre-registered in their data base to be activated on their systems.

But with the i-phone platform being so new to Bell and Telus, I wonder.....Hmmm. I'm going in tomorrow and will let y'all know what i discover.

Scooter953 is wrong, he is talking about their old network and cdma phones. As long as your phone is unlocked you just pop their sim card into it. It even says so right on the Bell website.

This program unlocks and jailbreaks the iphone so that you can use a different carrier. It's pretty straightforward. Your music should be fine as it's attached to you computer. I dont know about the apps and ringtones.
If you then no longer have a data plan with a phone company - turn off data roaming and ask your new phone provider to block data. If you use data without a plan you'll be charged lots.

I bought it from a Rogers store...So I guess i just need it Jailbreaked then, not unlocked?
No, you need to do both. Phones sold in Rogers stores are locked to Rogers. If you would have bought from someone like OmegaCell or Pure Mobile, then you would probably have gotten an unlocked phone.

I respectfully disagree

Any running around you do is a waste of time. Bell will not allow that phone to be activated on their network. One simple call to a Bell store will answer that for you.
Sim Card from Telus $9.99

This should clear things up. If the Green Box frequency is not listed on your phones specifications for UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA / WCDMA then it is NOT compatible with the new network.

Phones unlocked from Rogers or Fido will only work if they have the specified Green Box frequency as above.

The iPhone uses 850/1900 in North America. Rogers, AT&T, Telus, and Bell all use those frequency bands. It will work without complications.

Exactly. Both Bell and Telus are aiming at stealing Rogers customers. That is why they are selling SIM Cards for less than 10 bucks. What once was 90 days ago, is no longer. The new network levelled the playing field for all and allowed companies like Wind to sneak in the backdoor. It is the phone and not the Network that will determine whether she can move to another carrier. And from what I read, her phone is one of the newer ones. JMHO
