Saw it last night. Simply an amazing film from start to finish. Nothing exploitative about it. The majority of the film deals not with what happens on Flight 93 but with the air traffic controllers, FAA, and NORAD dealing with the chaos of that day. If I had any one complaint about the film it would be too much shaky cam footage. Despite all the talk about the film being a downer (Obviously it does not have a happy ending) I didn't walk out depressed. I came away feeling pretty much the same thoughts I had on 9/11 - that I had seen the very worst of humanity and the very best.

Maybe Americans aren't ready to sit through a 9/11 movie along these lines but I guarantee you that generations to come will look back on this as almost a historical document. Easily the best film I've seen this year and I seriously doubt I'll see anything better. Also the movie gets major points for steering clear of all of that fucking conspiracy theory shit.

I watched Flight 93 on A&E. I thought it was well done too.

Of everyone in the air that day, I felt most for the people on flight 93. They knew what time it was. The people on the other three flights had no clue up until the last minute that things were going to end badly. The people on 93 knew it was a suicide mission. They, like most of the people trapped in the towers, knew they were probably going to die sooner rather than later. A very sad situation to be in.

An excellent movie. Did you guy's catch the show before about the guy that ''predicted 9-11''?

I think his name was Rick Riscorla(SP?)

That one made me real sad, the whole story in general was really touching.
I hope that one airs again. I have seen it twice.

United 93 on DVD Sept 5.

I finally caught United 93 at the Hollywood Theatre. No one in the theatre said a word until the black screens of text came up at the end. Absolutely riveting.
IMO, it deserves a Best Picture nomination. The story could not have been told any better.
I've seen Flight 93 as well, and though it's good, it's focus is much more on the people on the ground and how they react to talking with the soon-to-be victims.
You definitely need to see both films. One complements the other.

So you're into denying this plane crashed and people died along with the hijackers?
FYI, the black sceen text at the end points out the amount of time it took to reach GWB and Cheney to give an executive order to act was long after all events had occurred.
That should satisfy a conspiracy theorist such as yourself.

I just said that I wouldn't mind knowing what really happened. People died that day, I believe that. Flight 93 may have even crashed. But I don't believe that the events were carried out as the Writers and Producers of the film "United 93" portrayed them. There are a lot of facts that have been left out of the Media from that day. If you would like to find out more, do some research. And try to avoid using news sources such as NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, CNN. Because these are hardly reliable news sources.

Actually, I think he's a total asshole, as are most Fox News personalities. I should have said you got one out of five networks right.

Until I started reading this thread, I used to say that the easiest thing to sell to Americans was a conspiracy theory. Now, it seems we have a lot of Canadians who are buying into some of the most cockamamie conspiracy theories I've ever heard. It seems too many people are allowing their dislike for and lack of respect for GWB to cloud their judgment. Even intellectually-challenged American politicians aren't always wrong (often, yes; always, no).

Anyway, back to sex, which, after all, is what this board is all about, isn't it?

Who said anything about "Conspiracy Theory"? The falsehoods of September 11 are hardly a theory. There is barely any evidence that has been given by the mainstream media that would support the facts of what "allegedly" happened that day. I never heard any "blackbox" recordings from that plane that explain what happened. I am not saying that I know what did happen, I will say though that the facts of what the news agencies and the US government are not entirely accurate.

I saw United 93 early this year, and it is by far the best film I've seen so far. Paul Greengrass is an amazing director, who's only other Hollywood film. "The Bourne Supremacy" was also very well done. I'm very much looking forward to " The Bourne Ultimatum" in 2008. The film centers on the disconnect between federal agencies and the military, and how each percieved the events of the Sept 11th. The film is more documentary than a work storytelling. I have never been so riveted watching a film, as when, in the final few moments the passengers try to retake the plane.

The A&E "Flight 93" televison movie centered too much on the patriotic, CNN version of events. It's unfortanue both were released at the same time, as the impact of Greengrass's film was lost on most.

As for conspiracy theories, I don't believe there's much too them. But then, the evidence surrounding AA Flight 77, which hit the Pentagon is the weakest. If any flight was shot down, that would be the most plausible.
