Actually not really touring, but I will be there. This is where I will need some local knowledge, hope you can help. I need a decent Hotel close to the Gray Nuns Hospital. My SO will be heading in there for surgery and we need a place close by.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, any suggestions for restaurants and/or pubs in the area.

Thanks in advance for any helpful hints. Anybody That wants to get together for a pint feel free to drop a PM. Wouldn't mind meeting a few fellow Board members. Eddie will be in the bush, so no mini-MERL.

The Grey Nuns is in Millwoods, so you have several hotels less than a 10 minute drive away. Delta Edmonton South, Radisson and Sawridge are all around the same area with lots of stuff within 20 minutes walking distance. Restaurants include Century Grill, Moose Factory, Sawmill, a Thai place(can never remember the name) tucked behind the Rona, plus your chains like BP's, Moxies, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Earls, Tony Roma's and Sorrentino's. Diamonds (Peelers) is basically across the street (4 minutes) and Supreme and Jaileys (2 massage studios) are 20 minutes or less away on foot. Overtime Pub is about 10 minutes walk away and can be hit and miss depending on the night. Wednesdays is 19 cent wings after 4 pm and karaoke starting at 9 and is located by the Thai place. Friday and Saturday a DJ starts after 9 pm playing dance music. Fast food is well served with Arby's, Dairy Queen, McDonalds, Burger King and A&W all within 12 minutes or so.

Another pub is 28 Degrees which has live music on Friday and Saturday until about midnight and Karaoke every night (about a 15 minute walk). There is Pacific Buffet close by as well, but have not been there to try it.

Hope this helps.

Forgot, Bad Ass Jacks, Little Ceasers, a Chinese place, a Vietnamese place and Red Robin in the same complex as Overtime and the Thai place. There is also Yokazuna's across from the complex and Bonzai is also located across from the Radisson for Japanese places. Breakfast is available from an Ihop and I believe ABC Family restaurant all close by.

Thank you sales, it's a big help. Usually stay at the Hilton Garden Suites out by the West Ed. Mall. I will check these out, DND is paying so I'll have to stay in their budget, though I could top it up if necessary. I appreciate the recommendations on the Peeler Bar and the Massage Places, but since I haven't seen the SO in about 5 months I doubt I'll be getting away from her. Mind you, I'll have some time on my hands while she's in surgery.:D

Again, thanks.

My pleasure Uncleg. I live in this area so if you need any more information, just let me know. Threw the extras in as I figured you might have an hour of free time somewhere. If you are on a budget with DND, there is also the Greenwood (changing to a Holiday Inn sometime in the near future) and a Ramada, that being said, I know the Delta has a government rate.

Delta is probably where we'll end up, DND usually books them. In this case, if there is something closer to the Hospital we'll get into that. Once the surgery is done and they release her, they want her back inside as quickly as possible. Anyway, thanks again.

Going to be the Sawridge. Seems Edmonton is a busy place during that time frame, Hilton, Delta and the better known chains are all booked. On the flip side, a suite with King size bed and a Jacuzzi for $99.00 per night seems a pretty good deal. Thanks again for the info guys, now it's a matter of trying some of the restaurants and see how they compare to West Coast fare. Maybe I'll run into the Sperminator in one of them.:D

Don't forget your brown shoes ..... just in case!

Don't cry when you say I do, okay? It is so unbecoming. ;)
Sorry, no brown shoes, but I have a nice brown pair of boots. As to the tears, well past that, actually none left after I sobered up and realized what I had done.

Unless you are going to hit the donair shops & cupcakeries (is that even a word?) you probably won't see him without first speaking his name aloud three times.

This speaking his name three times aloud thing, isn't that also how you raise demons and the like ?

Sawridge turned out to be a good choice, both in location and value for money. Some of the friendliest staff I've dealt with in some time, plus the Hotel restaurant, Creations, had some really good food. So again thanks for the info.
