Taking One For The Team.
It is a phrase originally used in sports to refer to a player sacrificing themselves (blocking a shot, taking a big hit, etc.) for the good of the team.
Here we use it to refer to situations where a pooner will take a risk, visiting a unknown SP, in order to be able to provide reliable information back to the rest of us.
As in, "I saw this ad on Backpage but couldn't find any reviews so I thought I'd TOFTT."
