When I was born almost 53 years a go . The world was on the verge of nuclear annihilation.. And we lived with that treat for the next 40 years
But we always had hope for the future of man .. there was the space race that was going to put man seed out into the universe.. and if we some how brew the hell out of this earth we would make a new one.. There was a dream ..and a lot of energy put in to making it a reality
some how it got staled .. we started doubting our ability.. The challenger crash .. and other set backs in space exploration .. set the worlds thought on the ground ... and we seemed to turn inward on each other.
The me generation .. that thinks only of how to make money .. and only of them selves.
Then along come this global warming crap.. and it is crap . no doubt about it .. The ultimate.. me thing to do ... fore get about .. wars .. poverty.. sickness... abuse.. even a better future... and a better "worlds".. No instead we are going to take on nature ..perhaps shake our fist at God ... and say . No you can't make use move on .. and be more then we are .. we are going to dig in .. and preserve what we have .
Now don't get me wrong ... the world is warming up .. and we may have done our part .. . But i have said it before .. and i will say it again .. it is a natural processes.. and we will just have to adapt..that is what we have done ..and now we seem to have for got .. The me generation. at its best ..
Lets get back to thinking of a future of mankind .. not in 10 years or 50 but where will we be . 500 years from now ...That is what i miss there was hope for a future .. now there is only a day today existence.. in the programs .. the doctrine .. and the agenda of the world.
I hope we wake up and see once more. beyond our everyday live ..

I see nothing wrong with living one day at a time and not stressing worrying to much.

Lets get back to thinking of a future of mankind .. not in 10 years or 50 but where will we be . 500 years from now ...That is what i miss there was hope for a future .. now there is only a day today existence.. in the programs .. the doctrine .. and the agenda of the world.

Lets get back to thinking of a future of mankind .. not in 10 years or 50 but where will we be .
In 10 years we will begin to feel the full weight of China. The world will never be the same. At that time, we will also begin to feel the shift of power along these lines: that power will be distributed more or less along lines of the most numerous of the world's population. So we will see India and South America becoming major power centers as well as East Asia. The remnants of European colonial power, of which the United States was the last, will be a but a backdrop of the civilizations to come. The Europeans' greatest contribution to civilization, in my opinion, was democracy. But democracy in its present form is not in its final evolution. There will come better forms of government that will suit nations as they develop and will better reflect their own cultural diversity (or lack thereof). Newer, better forms of government will evolve. Though many are derisive of China's communist regime, I believe that it will evolve into one that serves their People's Republic in the most efficient and productive manner, and this is because with the creation of a middle class, it will become a necessity. This will become a model for the new power centers, which will leave bankrupt democracies and totalitarian states behind.

The war with Islam will continue and only get worse. Islam is the last stronghold of an old human religiosity of the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) in the face of an increasingly post-modern rationalist world. The only real peaceful solution is for Islamic countries to somehow create a middle class from the wealth of their nation, but the conditions in the rest of the world must allow for the old religiosity to survive in its fundamental state. This requires that the rationalist world develop a new way of looking at religion, and it's only hope is the evolution of science to accept religion. The New Age movement and Eastern medicine and mysticism provides a possible path way. But for this to be realistically possible would take another 100 years because the fundamental framework of science must change from a materialist and mechanistic understanding, and much bloodshed will have occurred before then.

The children of tomorrow will be nothing like the children of today, who themselves are nothing like the children of 40 years ago. The trend is the increasing adulteration of young people. This needs to be recognized and laws need to be changed to reflect that and make them accountable as a "para-adult" citizen, if you will. The children of tomorrow will have less and less of a cocoon that shields them from the greater society in contrast to the children of 40 years ago. Indeed, they will become more and more integrated into society and the product is faster intellectual maturation (emotional maturation will always trail far behind). The Individual will become more paramount at a younger age. The children of tomorrow will engage in civil matters and become fully sexualized.

The role of men and women will become more clear. Feminism will look like nothing more than humankind's ideological mistake in it's teen years, when morality is more black and white than during adulthood. While women will earn equal pay and have equal civic rights and equal opportunities, most will realize that their genetic role is not exalted in the traditional male domain. Men will also realize that it sucks to be a man.

Personally I hope to visit Mars one day, to be wealthy, and to have another 100 lovers before I die. I also hope we can avoid a nuclear war, though I believe that if we can survive one mostly intact, it will be good for mankind.

End Times and more...

Many scientists and religious freaks are predicting the end of the world in 2012. They all say we are currently in the last few seconds of End Times! Who knows...

As for mankind its always been a "me" generation. The only difference is we now have more materialistic things to purchase and its growing by the day...therefore, we appear more selfish than previous generations. The sad thing is, I really don't see the "nature" of man changing. Governments are all about power and money, the news seems to make us want to be impressed with power and money...endless stories on the rich and famous. Where does it all end... Does man get off this rock and explore the universe, or do we run this planet into the ground and everyone along with it? Unfortunately, I think the latter is more likely to happen in our current state and direction!

Let's pray things change and soon!

A better perspective

Thanks GBM . for giving a little wider perspective on the world .. I seem to see the world only from this narrow north American view point.. Al ways forgetting that the world was molded more buy what has happened in the east.. and Europa. then just what the US does ... and in fact it is not the US . but international business .. and foreign nationals in the US that have the power

AS for your description of the future... Definitely China.. India .. and Asia . as whole will have a huge influence on the economics of the world .. and the depletion of our resources. as they consume more .. and the environment will once again .. take a back seat mot what is more important .. making money.
Religion ... science.. there never has been a conflict with me .. science is looking for God ... and has showen that there is more to the universe .. But we will be allowed to learn the secrets., possiable to our own destruction ... or mankind's ultimate survival..where will Orthodox religion be. . Well for those that do not want to see that their doctrines .. are false.. and have been manipulated to serve men. rather then a higher purpose...I have to pity them because they have doomed there own existence.( just a side note.. I have been a christian ..as per say ..and can see that the words that jesus spoke are true ..but which truth , the universal truth .. or the narrow .minded one .. that has altered the contents of the the word . in the bible . or any of the other holy scriptures. that influence the faith of this world. I can not believe how foolish .. believers can be .. to think that God would not allow the bible to be altered. to fit the social climate of the day..and to reflect what man thinks others should believe ... For the record .. God works on and through our spiritual heart. and does not need the bible .. or the coram. they do help to give use examples of people of faith... But did God stop working 2000 years ago .. or 1500 years ago .. no ! .. So there are still many stories of Gods miracles .. and people of faith that over come and do gods work. there word .. and deeds . have an equal place beside .. the words of the apostles .. and the prophets in the old and new testaments .Blasphemy.. I am a protestant.)
I to would like to see man on mars . and go out into the galaxy..but not with our technology .. we need a quantum leap to take place in our understanding of interstellar propulsion .. and navigation to make it practical..
There is a future to strive for ...but who is promoting it?

Most everything you say is happening now. South America is in acid reflux. It was going that way but now looks like your ten year bench mark or more.

Is this the best futurist crap you can come up with? "or lack thereof?

The six million dollar man? Or the newfound six billion dollar woman that's being given a tv shot.

Are you fucking kidding me???!! They have made their middle class in fear of reprisal and for communistic democracy!

Well there's a fucking stupid sign. Tell your hanger on...to get hanged by your spiritual teller.

Interesting thought. I would agree if they weren't dumbasses about it!

Let me give you a small hint. It is fair to criticize, but only if you offer insight on the matter or an alternate idea. Otherwise, people won't take your criticism seriously, they may think you have a personal problem with the subject you're criticizing. But at least you did not do the worst thing, which some people of late do when someone expresses an opinion, and that is, not only do they criticize, they immediately label the subject with a derogative term, such as "prick" . Thank God you're not one of those (Miss Bijou). People like that don't have the maturity to carry on a conversation with someone that deviates slightly from their opinion, and I do wonder if they have the maturity to have any kind of meaningful relationship with someone who is an equal. But sorry to sound condescending, I know you from your posts that you were not mean spirited about it.
