Hi. Perhaps someon can explain to me what the racist comments are in this thread because I really don't see them.
It's like someone saying there are a lot of black people playing in the NBA and someone else calls it racist. How is it racist?
I know lots, lots of Aboriginal people. I know plenty that are decent and plenty that are sketchy to say the least. SOme of the above comments are misguided, others are just plain wrong, but not seeing anything that stands out as racist.
So please point out a clear example of racism.

No, I have not had the misfortune of living next to a nasty family like that, indigenous or otherwise. I have lived next to some bad neighbours, most of them happen to be white. Growing up I experienced racism of one form or another on a regular basis, so I do have some experience there. I have and have had friends, colleagues that are indigenous, none of them fit the profile you painted. In fact, some of the most kind and generous people I have met are indigenous.

I am very sorry that you had such a bad experience with an indigenous family in the past. I don't know how old you were when this happened. If you were young when you had this experience, I am sorry that your parents could not impart on you that there are bad people from all ethnicities, just like there are good people.

I know several people whom have lost loved ones due to Robert Picton. There is tremendous pain and sadness, but never have I heard them say that all white people are bad.

You said I cannot answer the question unless I lived next to a nasty indigenous family. What question are you referring to?

To directly answer your feedback this happened when I was an adult who owned his 3rd property after hitting the reset button on life after a divorce.To get more specific about how a neighbor felt when his garage was broken into by those "Thug Native" kids and they trashed his 1967 Camaro SS that he restored by hand not to mention stole all of his tools and this was about 5 years ago.He was fucking livid.

This example is prevalent in Canadian Society.....crime and property damage and the like.It is not all about prosperous face mask carvers whose creations get sold to tourists in Gastown/Yaletown nor about the BS that Lieberals show up for for photo ops whilst promising the moon and then delivering JACK SHIT.

Canadians get just plain raped for taxes and Natives pay no taxes at all but at the same time Natives get shitloads of money from the Federal Government.....it is not the fault of Canadians that Native Governance fucks over their own people.Perfect example of that was the "hunger strike" Theresa Spence went on a few years back.Well first off it was not a "hunger strike" it was more of a diet as she looked like she had never missed a meal in her life and more like she got second helpings every time.Her claims that the school on the reserve was falling apart and other claims got people riled up.Yeah the school was falling apart because it was being vandalized from within.The hockey arena was mighty fine though on that reserve and it had a scoreboard worthy of an NHL arena same goes for the brand new Zamboni that had to be trucked in to the reserve.Of course there was no light cast on the house of the Cheif Theresa Spence by the Lieberal media as it would have shown that she was living pretty damn well as were all band council members who sided with her governance.

I agree with overdone's comment... Native women's biggest problem is native men.

Statistically, this is true. Native women are subject to very high rates of violence and murder. And, overall, the majority of this is done by their partners. The trauma from residential schooling does contribute. But its the native man's choice to go on a week long drinking binge, then come home to beat the shit out of his wife.

I was required write papers using information from case studies and peer reviewed journal articles on this subject for a couple different classes. Let me tell you, it was a hard read every time.

The reality is tragic. But, at the same time, the reality is what it is.

Add in the corruption of the reserve chiefs and negligence of the RCMP to investigate these crimes... it's a mess.

The latest BS is the Translink gas pipeline fiasco and it as an albatross Trudeau should wear around his neck.A total of ALL first nations along the route are 20 and all 20 are behind the pipeline.Most if not all of those First Nations will benefit.They
will all benefit from jobs/education and infrastructure that affects communities in a positive way.That pipeline is a way out of poverty for those people and they see that and want to embrace it.It is a good viable project that gets resources to market of the coast to markets that want it and I am cheering for this as an Albertan for BC natural gas to get to tidewater.These people dont want a hand out.....they want a "HAND UP".
