thanks for the input everyone

I think its important to have an exceptional artist, I don't want mediocre....most places have a 2month+ wait list.....I'm on one of them....I like tasteful color tats, not that fond of the lower back ones.....some pretty cool tats posted, love the wings & the bat (that ass!!! mmm) for a B&W job.

Some of you have heard my idea & I finally want to just do it! It has humour & thought behind it, literally. I also want to get a couple screws & nuts/bolts hidden in a few places LMAO It will be by private viewing only, where the sun doesn't shine too often.....

if your in Edmonton I know of 2 really good artists and tatooists. I have my chest and sleeves done and all of it is wicked. The 2 guys I think are awsome in Edmonton are --

Trevor (the owner) at BIG DADDY'S TATTOO & Piercing
ph # 474-(TATS)8287

Another that is wicked is Trevor at DRAGON FX --NOT the DFX in west edmonton mall!!!---THE DRAGON FX at Kingsway---The shop at kingsways is 100 times better that West Ed Mall---At kingsway that artists are much much more experienced, better, and older

if you can see either of those 2 Trevor's you can't go wrong---Bitz

Thanks to Vanman

After looking at the arrangement of the various degrees of tattoos he submitted and knowing one of western canada's leading demortologists (remove about 5 X's cost to put on) I am NOT a big fan of them either. Wher are the 40 and fifty year old women showing them off? Don't do it Gina!

.....Men are no different either, it is widely known that all women hate 4 inch long pubic hair yet I don't see even 50% of men trimming theirs, even though it's more practical if you ever want a womans face down there, to do it....
LMAO....I remember looking at old Penthouse mags and the gyno shots were....uhh...pathetically furry (you could make mattresses from the models' bushes)!! Why would a woman like a guy with 4 inch pubes?

Speaking of which, have you seen the Canadian version of Red Bull, called "Beaver Buzz"? :D too much...only in Canada, eh

I agree completely about your tattoo comments! Like any type of art, tattoos are not for everyone, but they are a form of art. You forgot to mention that they are extremely addictive, and it's hard to stop at just getting one.

Not for me thanks. I love some of the very tasteful tatoos on some of the ladies I have visited. As for tatoos on myself I would rather not. :D

No offense taken sweets, I do generalize, but it's true, a lot of older people associate tats with the military and with war so don't like the implication. As far as why some young people don't like them, it beats me. I can understand not wanting one, but not wanting to see them on others too? To each their own.

While she does ask for opinions I didn't see her post as being on the fence about which way to go, but after re reading her post, it is kinda vague and there is room for interpretation. I still don't believe she will change her mind, it's that kind of a life decision. And to not do it only to get approval or attraction from others is kinda shallow, no? Thats all I was trying to say.

I really feel that tattooing is an art and every piece is unique on a unique canvas. I enjoy diversity and I applaud anyone who dares to decorate their body in such a permanent fashion. I also think tattoos give more personality and makes the person that much more interesting. Just another facet.
Definately fine-art - and for me, makes a gorgeous woman, irresistable... Rain for example . . . she's the flame, I'm the moth .. :D

I have sleeves on both arms, and can't count the the number of hot looking babes that have stopped me to have a closer look, photograph them, and touch 'em too - a Rolex won't even get you a nod....
heh ! - nice perk - however, tattoos are not for everyone, for sure... not all would like that attention, and resulting sensual stimulation . . .
... would they? :D
... seriously, - pick your needle-man (gal) carefully, - one sleeve started out as a cover-up for bad work.. I learned the hard way, and if the ink-pusher ain't no artist, I ain't goin' to sit in the chair. - there's lots of good ones around, and remember to pay attention to their individual styles - what I like you may not, regardless of the quality of the work . .
- can hardly wait to see Rain . . I'm turning into a moth as I write .......:p

The post was more about everyones opinion on who is the best tattoo artist around.....obviously due to privacy people can't post their tats, but I am curious what/why ppl get (email me if you wish :) )

I'm truly not that shallow to post a question on here about whether or not I should do it LMAO(or any other important decisions) I'm one of those know what I want & know how to get it women!!! I see it as meaningful art, every picture has a story.....

Appreciate the views shared here Peace, Love & a little pain does the body good

Reconsider?

I dunno - call me old fashioned but I don’t like most tattoos. Someone once said that he wouldn’t scribe permanently on his body that which he wouldn’t be caught dead with hanging on his wall.

Talk to people over 50 years of age who have had tattoos for more than 20 years. See how many of them regret having had it done. Then make up your mind.

In this day and age though, 2 cents is probably more that what this opinion is worth.

you have to remember that tattoo technology and the inks have came along way from 20 or 50 years ago, they don't fade to the ugly blue that all the old ones do. Just remember that its not just a jailhouse tat artist or some shitty port the old navy used to stop in. Things have came along way.---

Tattoo's?

I have a couple.

I love one. Not the other.

I had later found out that he artist was a pedophile. I have to have it worked over. Not the design or anything. Just a new one over the old one.

My second one was very sentimental. After my friend died of Cancer, I had thought about what my best friend meant to me.
Jade, was both of our friend, but it put our friendship into a light that we had never discussed.

She died 5 days after we took her to Pearl Jam for her last outing. She really wanted to go to NIN. (Nine Inch Nails) In our youths, and up to this point, we always loved them. So, my friend and I both got the NIN stamped on our legs. One left and one right. Just in time for the show.:D

My best friend went later on to have the tattoo that Jade wanted forever.

A dragon.

My friend spent 7 hours in a chair, and WOW. A nice tribute for sure.

I wish I had a better pic, but I don't have a scanner...:(
I have another in the works, a pair of eyes on the back of me. Rolling eyes.
On my shoulders, like a butterfly has right?

I was going to wait for after I had finished with this job for it. I have decided against it. It ll goes with the ''they love it or hate it" pile.
Fuck 'em.

The most offensive one can wait. Not long, but it can.

I really think tattoos are a fad. In days gone by it was the lower classes that had them and it was a sign of not being very well educated. Many who had them were in the military or criminals. Lately it has become fashionable and all the rage to have not only one, but multiple tats. A lot of people who get caught up in the trendy nature of things will regret it as they change. We all beome different people as we grow - new friends, jobs, responsibilities and raging tats might not be so cool when you're not a barista at Starbucks. A program on the CBC the other day talked about how many Chinese and Japanese symbols being applied are incorrect. Instead of saying "warrior" or "tranquility" - they often say things like "wet dog" and " crazy diarrhea".

Well, it's not a fad.

An ongoing tradition over many years.
Perhaps it is a fad in Western culture, but people have been getting them here for decades.

I did watch and interesting documentary once for a clothing and design class I took.

Tattoo's have been applied and implemented throughout history.

Hawaiians have special tattoo's that they apply to suit their personalities.
There is a tribe in Africa, where ladies that pass through puberty have to go through a similar process.

They take a chisel, and literally bang the skin open.
They choose different areas, but the ones that I have seen are across the neckline.

Once the skin had been broken, they rub dirt into the wounds and let it heal over.

I am sure you have seen this, the result is bumps raised in the skin to make a pattern.

I see what you're saying, people get a certain type of tattoos because they are in fashion. Like shitty tribal pieces they don't know the meaning of.

My sister's BF is Chinese, and has read people's tattoos for them telling them they don't mean what they want it to.

That is the person's fault for not doing their research and jumping on a bandwagon.

They get those tatts because it is a fad, yes. They are the stupid ones for sure. Totally lacking in their own creativity. I get it.

To make my point brief, Western cultures jump on a tattoo fad. The tattoo itself is not a fad. MHO

Hmmm...

I had a small tattoo done when I was very young and rebellious that isn't awful but I definitely regret it. I can totally appreciate a well done and thoughtful piece and I find it can look very masculine and sexy on a man, but I don't really like how it looks on a woman... even if I love what they've chosen. I can completely respect the art, but don't necessarily find it attractive. Make sense..lol...??

I would have mine removed if it didn't leave a scar... until then... I'll stick with a little colour instead...lol.
