Just what has become of our vaunted Canadian values that were so important during the election? There were four stories in today's Province that had me shaking my head.
1. A woman pushed down trying to get on Skytrain and suffered three broken toes. Nobody stopped to help.
2. A handicapped guy punched and knocked down in West Vancouver by a selfish jerk whom he challenged for parking in the handicapped zone. What kind of a low-life, SUV-driving, latte-swilling fuck-tard punches a handicapped guy?
3. The new Mayor of Surrey can't work with the City Manager, so he is resigning and getting approx. $800,000 severance. Who just won a lottery? Excuse me, but that is taxpayer money. The mayor has been on the job a couple of months. Find a fucking way to work with the guy or sell your house to pay his severance, but don't saddle the taxpayer because you don't like the guy.
4. A judge who let a convicted murderer (he served all of one year for killing a guy), set free despite the fact he was on probation and was found in a Surrey apartment with a loaded sawed-off gun, screwdrivers, drugs,fake mail box keys, vice grips, duct tape, stolen property, masks and a knife because Crown couldn't prove the stuff didn't belong to a previous tenant. Father of dead guy says it's only a matter of time before ...I'll let you guys guess from here on.
Why does it seem the bad guys always win, nowadays?

The whole handicap parking thing is really pissing me off. More and more people use those spots without being entitled to them, and I see more people with handicap passes who aren't handicapped. And it's not white trash doing it, it is indeed mostly latte swilling yuppie scum, they think that because they are important and their time is so much more valuable than everyone else's they are entitled to use those spots. It pissed me off when I had to push my mom's wheelchair an extra mile, when there's some non-handicapped no-pass asshole in a Benz sitting in the handicap spot yakking on his phone. I wanted to shove it up his ass.

There is a steady drift in society towards sucking up and kicking down, the every-man-for-himself ethos seems to justify fucking over everyone else if it benefits yourself. Courtesy is uncool, you'll look like a wimp, it's now cool to be an obnoxious sociopath.

next time you see some ass sitting in a handicapped parking spot take a pic with your cellphone camera and then call the cops!

i did that to some asshat with a dealer plate on his ride ... there were tons of empty spots and bonehead grabbed the handicapped spot right by the door ... called the cops and one was nearby and the guy got a monster ticket and a nice lecture to boot ...

My friend is handicapped (lost leg in car accident) and what he does is block the goof that is parked in the designated spot by parking directly behind him with his flashers on. This pisses those idiots off more than anything when they can't leave.

My parking pet peeve is the people who park in loading zones. I'm a delivery driver, and nothing is more annoying than pulling up to a loading dock with a truck full of stuff and some asshat in a compact car has got the loading dock blocked. If you're loading/unloading large amounts of stuff, then it's first come first served. If you're just running in, DON'T!!! Another guy I work with once pulled into a dock with a compact parked in it, he blocked him in, loaded up his cart and disappeared for THREE HOURS!!!

i remember having some conversations with friends of mine about the social decline. it had a lot to do with what is commented on above but small stuff too. like leaving all your shit and garbage on the table in the food court or fast food joint. is it that fucking hard to take your shit to the garbage?

i can't even count the times i've had a tray full of food, needed a place to sit and the only tables without people at them are full of the last guys trash. have some fucking courtesy for the other people after you.

also trying to get into a lane and the guy slightly behind you speeds up when he sees your blinker. what the fuck is that shit? i know two wrongs don't make a right but now i just speed up and cut them off if thats the game they want to play.

there have been times as well when you show someone some courtesy and its not aknowledged, like you hold the door for someone with their hands full or let someone take the parking spot you both got to at the same time. they just take it like you should have done it to begin with.

the argument from the people i was talking with was "well thats life." or that "you(I)expect too much from people." personally i think thats bullshit and a cop out. i regularly take it upon myself now to call people out on their bullshit social behaviour.

Now my parents are not wealthy, they had a small farm in rural Alberta, Dad worked part time as a guard amd mom worked as a cleaning lady. They certainly knew the value of things. They figured that if everyone left their trays on the tables, people would be hired to clear them. Even if it means the price goes up a little, it is worth it if it means another person has employment.

I remember flipping the bird to some guy who had managed to block off one lane of oncoming traffic with his big ass truck and was now attempting to cut me off. He got pissed off too and spewed profanities and spittle out his window at me when he managed to catch up to me.

I had this strange epiphany sitting there at the next intersection after the verbal assault. Primarily, that I had just acted like a complete asshole, fucked up that guys whole day and caused a bunch of unnecessary anger. Sure he had cut off traffic, but maybe he had been sitting there for ten minutes trying to get out into the lane. Maybe he had four tired children in the back. What if I had slowed to allow him in? What if I had just driven by without giving him the finger?

I also realized that it is not worth the emotional output, acting this way, even if others are doing the same. The same goes for parking in handicapped spaces and the epidemic issue of leaving your trash and shit for someone else to deal with (that bugs me too...).

I don't believe the answer lies with our politicians, either. We place too much dependence upon them as is and thus we have this nanny like government that meddles in everything we do. Besides which, why turn to rich lawyers for answers to a common man's issue...? We all know how they will respond: more laws, more restrictions. A lawyer's reaction.

I don't place much faith in changing others either. Best to just work on my own backyard of dark little tendencies.

BTW: I figured this article belonged in this thread - can you believe this shit: Random act of criminal stupidity. Parking in handicapped spaces is assoholic, but this...?! WTF?

When I worked at Raunchy Ronnie's back in high school, I preferred if people would leave their trays on the table. Gave me something to do (especially when it was quiet) but it also told me which tables needed to be wiped down.

its your perogative but i gotta disagree with you on this one man. to me it seems a bit lazy. not saying you or your parents are lazy but i mean come on, we all know what they are going to do with the profits, and its not hire someone else to clean up cause people have decided that they are too lazy to throw their own mess away.

is that how people do it at home. just leave their shit out and hope someone else cleans it up? well i guess some do. besides i don't think its that much of a community service to have every mcdonalds hire someone at minimum wage which you can't even live off of to clean up everybody else's garbage.

leaving the garbage out and letting other paying customers have to deal with the mess left behind because they are at the food place at a busy time and no one is available to clean up so the paying customer has to deal with the mess themselves until you wait for a money hungry greedy corporation to get the message to hire more people to clean.

i was always taught that when out to dine you act like or better then you would at home, because you are out in public and its just common courtesy to use your best manners.

i can see their logic and in theory it kinda makes sense but i don't think it works in this instance. i can't even count the times i have had to deal with someone elses fucking trash. does that seem fair to you.

But next time I am at my fav place to eat ( Earls ) feel free to help out my waitress and clean my table up if you insist....LOL

My niece is actually working at a McD's now....and she to prefers the people just leave the tray on the table.

I never asked her why, but she said that when i picked her up to drive her home a while back.

i gotta say in my opinion its a pretty poor attitude you guys are displaying. by the way i'm not talking about fine dinning. of course you don't clean your table up at a place like earls or something. however i gotta say i do my best to tidy up so the underpaid, over worked stressed server has it a little easier.

also just because an employee at mc d's likes the trays there does not mean that a customer, i.e. me with a tray full of food trying to find a seat in a crowded busy mc d's does. if there is nowhere else to sit then i gotta put my shit down and clean up some other inconsiderate persons garbage cause they were too damn lazy to just put the shit in the trash that happens to be on the way out the door.

so go through the trouble of delaying my meal which might i say is fast food so i may be in a hurry already and don't have time to wait around for a stressed out manager of a fast food joint, and in turn place more stress on them so then they are pissed and start to take it out on the employees and so on and so on. when that last person could have made it better for everyone with the very simple act of standing up(you have to stand anyway if you want to leave.) and instead of just leaving, pick up their tray and put it in the garbage that always seems to be right near the exit.

so again, delay my meal and be a whinny prick when the last person that was eating should have cleaned up their shit. so it is the managements fault that the last person who ate there is antisocial????

What is anti social about expecting them to clean up. It also far healthier to have them clean the table poroperly ie. disinfect rather than just pick up the garbage. Beside they will hire an extra person if it cuts into their profit if you decide it is too messy for you to eat there.

Annoying Stuff:

1. Cyclists who take up 1/4 to 1 lane of the road, but don't obey traffic laws ... or wear proper protective gear. I can live with the missing gear, but IMHO and in the eyes of the law... bikes ARE a vehicle that belongs on the road. This means you MUST obey the traffic laws (allow people to pass is just being polite, stopping at a red is mandatory, signalling is mandatory, going down the center line is illegal, exceeding 30 Km in a playground area is ILLEGAL etc). I can't believe the number of cyclists that selectively obey traffic laws and expect that I will gladly share the road with them. Obey all the laws or get on the sidewalk.

2. Non handicap in handicap spots...I agree with.

3. People who cut in front of me without signalling at all.

4. People who speed up to stop me from merging.

5. PEOPLE WHO WILL HOLD UP A FREEWAY SO THEY CAN CROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET IN THE FAR LEFT HAND TURN LANE!!!! (see Willingdon and Canada way for everyday examples)
