By that argument you'd tell any minority who had a problem to suck it up no matter what it is. That doesn't sound right.Even if 98% of a group isn't offended, do we cater to the 2% that is, or tell them to suck it up?
If the 98%'s only problem is not understanding what the big deal is, then why not cater? If it's something more contentious then there'd have to be a conversation.
For me it goes too far when the attempt to appease a fringe interest impedes a more practical interest, like when someone wants a history class to skip content because of trigger warnings. The point of history class is to learn the raw truth, not just what we want to hear.
For the original story in this thread, the only people whose interest could be practically impeded by the request didn't mind. So case closed.
