Back in the mid 90's, I did some camping in B.C. and recall some places where I went that we got to go skinny dipping.

One place was Meager Creek...Meager Creek is about 30km north of Pemberton. I was there in 94 and 95 and recall that the springs were built up through volunteers. It was interesting as you could camp there and then go sit in the pool. Since it wasn't a public pool, I heard through the grapevine that they closed it down due to high fecal bacteria count.

Another place that I visited was called Skoomumchuk which I believe is around Mt. Currie ? (not sure). This spot only had a couple of old galvanized tubs to sit in. I'm not sure if this place is still in existence as it was again a hidden gem.

I've also been to Wreck Beach, but find that it's to commercialized. I prefer the places that are less well known and off the beaten path.

Just wondering if anyone has anything to contribute to the above places or they might know of any other lesser well known places for doing some nude relaxing.

Appreciate any feedback !

Have a look for "Hotsprings of Western Canada" by Glen Woodsworth. I bought it at MEC years ago but they probably still have it. As I recall, Meagher creek hotsprings was posted "No swimming" because of an amazingly high coliform count. Funny thing but bacteria just thrive in a pool that never gets cold. All it takes is a few idiots who are too lazy to walk far enough away from the pools to have a dump and now the place is a health risk.

Hotsprings cove near Tofino here on the Island is supposed to be stunning if you can get the place to yourself but it takes a boat or float plane ride to get there and during the tourist season, the place is overrun.

Happy hunting! WS.

Hopefully you are referring to the little place south of Pemberton and not the Skookumchuck Narrows in Egmont. That would be a horrible (albeit somewhat funny, because it's not me) place to be skinny dipping! :D

I motorbiked up to Meager Creek on the Victoria Day weekend a couple years ago. Its changed alot since you were there last.

First off now its gated and only open seasonally (it would be fantastic to ski doo in during winter though). The provincial campsite is about 10k away, you drive about 8km to the gate and pay $5 then drive the rest of the way.

The pools are first class now all lined with cement, drained and cleaned yearly or so they say. There's warm, hot and hot-hot pools. They've added a proper change room and a solar powered out house (I heard there was a fecal bacteria problem a few years back. People were camping beside the springs)

The CO part depends on who's using the pools. There were no families when I was there, in fact only about 6 people ever came by, and everybody was pretty open minded.

At that time the road in was an active gravel logging road, so if you're not familiar with those kind of road rules (those trucks fly even on the blind corners and leave you in a dust storm) you might not feel comfortable.

Driving home I stopped at Loon Lake and took a few dives off the wharf au naturel. There were about 20 people on the wharf that day.

I know it's a ways to drive but I was up in Nakusp.
You go east past Vernon and Cherryville and then thru the Monashees and take the ferry across the lake to this town.

Anyways I was up there looking for grizzlies in April a couple years ago
and the area is full of commercial and natural hot springs.

I was camped at the end of a logging road and there was a hotspring maybe
400 yards down this hill to a river that was near us. My partner (a guy) and I went down a couple evenings after hiking around and it was great fun.

There was this hole in the ground that someone had put lumber wrappers in to hold the water and there was some submerged stumps and old lawnchairs in it. A 2" hose came out of the bank and you pulled the hose into the "Tub" till it was full and then you carried pails of cool river water in to adjust the temperature.

There was a hippy couple from Spokane that were there both nights and she liked to take her clothes off so we would ablige to go nude as well. At one point she was shampooing my buddies and my hair. That would have made a great picture since both of us had SO's.

The guy would drink himself into a stupour every night, it doesn't take much
in 105 degree water, and pass out in the corner. His gal and I exhanged a few free underwater'feels' but that was about it. My buddy was a bit more uptight than I am.

There are probably a dozen or more springs around and you can find them just by seeing cars parked along the roads. The locals tend to be a little tight lipped. Understandable.

Meager

Best time to head up there is now through till april. Go middle of the week.
Or wait till the snow hits and snowmobile up there. there is an outfit in pemby that will guide you up there if the roads are closed. nothing like hotubbin and rollin around in the snow for a quick romp. Hey any SP's want to take a road trip, head up there and camp for a night, I have a nice camper.
