Yes,faster than dial up ,but slower than hight speed. If you get a TV and internet package with Shaw, for a few dollars ($10)more,you will be on high speed!

try ADSL from tel us $24:95 montly rate first year and after that $ 39:95 much better than shaw (shaw sucks)
I have been with Shaw for about 3yrs. Service and reliability have been great. The 3 months I tried Telus ADSL was the worst internet service I've ever had. (telus sucks!).

internerd from telus licks nuts!! i had a virus that kept emailing random peeps so telus just suspended my service with out telling me. i found out 10 days later what had happened and why it took me that long is because i was so used to telus being down. on average i would have to call their tech line once a month to find out why there was no internerd. i have been on shaw with the light speed for 6 months now and have had NO problems!!

I've been with Shaw since it was Rogers@home, so I guess that's coming onto what?... 6...? 7 years? Once Shaw took over, quality of service and reliability, as well as helpfulness of Tech Support Staff has never been better.

Gone are the days of the notice from Rogers about a service interruption for upgrades 3 days after the interruption happened. Gone are the days of the Service "Tech" peon who could barely walk me through a problem without getting lost (I may not be an expert, but I figure I know more than the average bear about how things work computer-wise) with what I was telling him.

A few friends have Telus. Some think its great, most think it sucks.

I know Shaw highspeed lite is probably no comparison to either ADSL or normal highspeed. I was an ADSL user for a long time and had no problem with Telus. However, I decided not to use a land line in my new place so I have to make do with cable. My question is whether highspeed lite is sufficient for reading news on the net and going to forums such as this.

Yes,you won't have any problem and should be fast enough. I have been using light speed for two years before I switch to high speed . The reason why I switched was because for just an extra $10 instead of $18-20 before. Also it is faster to down load Video!

Help

I have also been with shaw since they were rogers@home in BC. My OS is Windows 98 SE, and occasionally I would sense that my internet connection has somehow been severed (i.e./ visiting a number of different sites and nothing loads). When this happens I run "winipcfg" then choose "release all' followed by "renew all", after which I usually get the connection back. Can somebody explain this process and also why the connection appears to be severed in the first place.
