I just got a flyer in the mail notifying me that Shaw will be adding 5 new HD stations CTV, Discovery, A&E, National Geographic and Showcase. Sounds good to me. Hold on, as part of the package TSN & Sportsnet wil included. So in order to get the two sports stations that I already have, I have to pay another $9.00/month.

I'm beginning to think I should have bought a Bell satellite.

Cable and satellite both nickle and dime you to death. You want a specific channel, you have to get a whole bundle. Then they cry about cheaters, maybe if they offered me what I want and didn't make me pay for what I don't want I wouldn't want to cheat!
And don't get me started on the CRTC and their thought police crap! You want the Playboy channel, okay, you have to get the bundle including Inuit Whale Hunting and French Canadian fiddling.

If I wasn't hooked on HGTV I wouldn't have a TV at all!

99% commercials, of the remaining 1%, its an additional
99% crap and wading through it to find the occasional
gem is just getting tired.

I wouldn't be SO pissed if it was one or the other:

pay for cable/sat but NO commercials!!!!

or free tv but you get commercials.

Bad News re TSN and Sportnet

It says you've been enjoying TSN and Sportnet HD "as part of a complimentary trial, which continues until December 31, 2006". In other words, starting Jan 1, 2007 you will have to pay for them also!

For anyone with HDTV, what do you really think of those channels? I have Bell, and even though there are some crisper features in HDTV, I really don't see any benefit of paying for those channels when the regular channels are just fine. I'll be dropping the HDTV channels when the one year free period is over.

Also on Bell - I have difficulty watching regular TV now - Discovery HD, Oasis HD are striking..... watching the recent World Cup was a treat.
