The only Superstore that I've been to that is nice is the one in North Van. It's clean and bright. As for HiFi's comment on not wanting to pay for bags-- I think that's false economy. Everything else is cheaper, so who cares if they make you shell out 2 cents a bag.
Agreed with Mustangjoe, the Superstore I go to is clean, bright and has the best prices, especially on stuff like Ketchup, salad dressing, etc...

I also agree with Hifi, I used to hate Stuperstore, cause it was dirty and the isles were too narrow. But the have shaped up, expanded their stores and widened their isles.

It USED to be like that, but in recent years, they've changed it so you can still get one for 1/2 price. .

With all this new intel Hitrack is at Safeway right now picking up a head of lettuce and some cookie mix.

Air miles a couple of times but I didn't see the broomstick in the ass on the list of prizes and yes if Safeway is advertising 3 packages of poo for $4.50 it means you can buy just 1 package for $1.50

Now that the thread has been hijacked over to Superstore, I have found that the home hardware/electronics are very well priced there.

Last year I had to buy a specific Texas Instrument calculator for my daughter grade 9 math class and after checking Future Shop, BestBuy & Office Depot, Superstore was the cheapest by 20%.

This year, my wife wanted to buy a coffee/cappuccino maker and she check Sears, Walmart and another department store and found them to be out of her price range. I told her to check Superstore and lo & behold, 30% cheaper than all the rest.

Just make sure it's the item you want 100% if you buy it at superstore. They have a voucher return policy only and it's a big PITA if you need to exchange or return something.

On a side note, has anybody besides me wanted to clotheline one of those geeky price checkers on rollerblades as a practical joke? Man, I'm mean today. Time for some coffee and relaxation with a movie or some TV.

Added 1 hour later: the scene I'm thinking about is some pimply geeky guy (like the guy they use in the Simpsons with the annoying voice that works at all the fast food places) skating around and saying prices through his walkie talkie in an annoying voice. Banana peel is placed near a STACK of 4 gal tubs of cranberry juice. Price checker slips and crashes into the stack. Cranberry juice tidal wave floods the whole store, just like in the Episode of the Simpsons. That would be classic!

I cant stand the Superstore. Its dirty, the food is lower class and people eat food from the bulk bins  . Staff is never there to help you and I will not pay for bags. If I shop at their store and give them my business they can darn well bag it and carry it to my car. When I do the big grocery thing I prefere Whole foods. If not chinese veggi markets and specialty meat shops.

I've won so many contests, if I told you some of things or trips I've won, you'd never talk to me again...

The only thing I will say is, if you don't enter, you can't win.

I used to shop at Safeway, then they opened a store at the other end of town from me. They said the new store was for convienence for the people at the other end of town and they would keep both stores open. Then once the new store was opened and fully staffed they closed the old store so they could get rid of all the long term employees who were actually making decent wages. They offered them transfers to distant stores that would ensure long commutes to make them want to quit so they could avoid severance pay.

Since then I haven't shopped at Safeway in years, not only because of the inconvienence of the store being farther away but because I don't like their unsavoury business practices.

I avoid Superstore like the plaque for all the previously-stated reasons. Even though there may be a new Superstore close to where I live, I'd rather go the extra distance to a Safeway or a Save-On-Foods.
