I'm at the point where I'm starting to consider... No serious hair loss yet, but more as a pre-emptive measure.

Has anyone used it for any length of time? Would appreciate any advice/tips concerning effectiveness/side effects etc. At about $60/month, it's not exactly cheap.

I tried it just out of curiosity. It gave me a bad headache
and increased my heartrate. Check with your physician
before using it. I would also go see a chinese herbalist/accupucturist
they have remedies for everything. A bit off the topic, but I went for a
consultation with a herbalist/accupucturist to see if he could supress
my appetite. I have been going for about 8 weeks and have lost around
15 lbs without changing my diet or exercising. I just eat less. If I changed
my lifestyle a bit, the weight/fat loss would have been a lot more.

Rogaine is one big pain. I tried it for some thinning in my hairline near the part and it made it worse even after the initial shed. I recovered somewhat after I got off on it. I use propecia and its did work for me. Its helps to maintain what you have in the middle of your head and crown but does not help the hairline much. I have almost no hair loss in that area with propecia now. It took more than 1.5 years to see the full results though.

To be fair, I hear some people have no results with propecia but I did just fine. Have patience is the key.

For the hairline its seems the ok thing to really work is a hair transplant but good god are those things expensive. I just want my a little bit back on my part side and I was quoted 7 grand. I know everyone needs to eat but if I showed you a pic of the area you would agree 7 grand is a ton.

I find that increasing baldness saves on shampoo and that drying time becomes moot.

Instead of Propecia get a prescription for Proscar. It is a prostate pill that contains 5mg of finasteride, the active medicinal ingredient of Propecia. Proscar is one-fourth the price of Propecia though (you cut the pill into 4 pieces). It will save you a small fortune. Talk to your doctor for more information - I had to have 2 doctors clue me in to this money-saving tip before I took their advice.

You can buy Generic Propeica. Its something like 150-200 bucks for one years worth. I've been using the Generic propecia for years and it has worked for me.
